It's been another eventful week (and a half) here in the JC ... so this is whats going down.

Email Preferences Reset?
It has been discussed recently by people receiving more emails that normal after the JC migration. Upon review, we believe we have discovered a possible explanation. We have validated that all configurations are identical between the two systems, as well as preferences migrated between them. The only exception is the new mailing infrastructure, which we eluded to in previous updates regarding email digests being disabled. We believe that the issues we detected a while back were in fact more problematic than expected. Initial tests show that the current mail infrastructure and Jive installation are working correctly and sending out emails according to the code base.
At this time, we will continue to monitor; however, the solution that has come out of the community, which is to update your preferences to stop sending email for all Followed Activity, is the proper course of action at this time if you feel that this is necessary.
Email Digests Re-Enabled
As promised, our mail infrastructure has been updated ... and we have re-enabled the email digest feature in the Jive Community.
Out of Office Issue(s)
After some review, we have noticed that there were some configurations that needed to be updated to potentially curb the surge in Out of Office emails in the Jive Community. We have instituted the changes and they are active at this point. We will continue to monitor reports (if any) to make sure this issue is put to rest. As always, we appreciate everyone's assistance and patience.
What Have I Been Doing?
This past week I have taken many of my first steps in making changes to the JC (finally). I have recently deployed the SBS Widget Pack - Plugin and QuickLinks Plugin to the Jive Community and will be starting on navigation changes on Overview dashboards around the community.
This document is a first step at defining some best practices in the Jive Community. Take a look at it, and let me know your thoughts. You can expect us to engineer the JC to make these best practices easier to accomplish by all users. Have an idea on a way you use the Jive Community to get the best results? Let us know!
Release documentation has also been a focus, as mentioned last week. We are currently looking at solutions that will vary based on time to delivery. Options being considered include providing incremental/more timely updates on a higher frequency (advantage: faster information, disadvantage: possible fragmentation) ... or more comprehensive updates (advantage: more complete, disadvantage: less timely). Either option would be more frequent than the current cadence for sure. Any preliminary thoughts before we provide a formal survey/poll is welcome.
Actually moving forward on many of the changes that have been in-queue waiting for the migration to complete, and post-migration issues to subside. Very excited to get to work.
