It's been another eventful week here in the JC ... so this is whats going down.

Hats Off

This episode of Hats Off is a bit special for me, as I get to promote a former colleague of mine.  His name is a Rene Cacheaux.  Back in February 2011, Rene and I were talking about an application to salvage whiteboard conversations in meetings, and how nice it would be if you could just take a picture with your iPhone or iPad ... and upload them to Jive.  About 24 hours later, Rene stops by my desk and says..."Hey, check this out".  Low and behold, he had developed a functioning prototype application for his iPhone.  Needless to say, he had caught the social bug.  =) Fast forward 10 months, and he has put together a nice looking application on the iTunes App Store in his spare time that leverages the new REST APIs in Jive5.

What Have I Been Doing?


For the past few weeks, the IPO preparations have consumed most of my time. (See Paving the new way to the NASDAQ ... with Social Business)  Probably the single most fun project I've done in a long time recently came to a close .. and was a great success.  Here is a picture of the 7-story digital board at Times Square that showed your tweets on the day of our IPO.  We are awaiting a high-quality video from NASDAQ.  Once received, we will upload the video to the community so people can see their tweets on the billboard.  Stay tuned!

In addition to this I've started moving forward on a few more Regional User Groups, such as the The specified item was not found., The specified item was not found., and UK User Group (updated).

What's Next?


I will be out of the office most of next week, returning just before the new year.  As such, I do not anticipate accomplishing anything too magnanimous, but I do know that all the conversations around Documentation, Community IA, etc... have been going really well and we are almost to a point where we can start the first phases.   So stay tuned!
