Update on DM / Share SPAM Fix Configuration for Jive 5.0.1+:

Just wanted to leave an FYI for those people looking to uptake Jive 5.0.1+ externally and plan to enable the DM/Share SPAM fix.  In addition to the SPAM configuration located at Admin Console > Management > Settings > Direct Messages and Sharing (simple checkbox), there is a very handy permission located in the Admin Console > Permissions > Home Page Permissions screen allow you to grant Share/DM Spam Override to Permission Groups.  In short, these people will not be constrained by the SPAM user follow requirements.  Since it was so easy for me to overlook, I thought it would be worthwhile for everyone to share.

 

Also, related to this ... you can check out a new feature in the Admin Essentials Plugin that may provide more options in this arena.  See: AutoFollowListener.

Maintenance Update - Jive Community to install updated Jive for Outlook, Events, and Ideation Plugins next week:

Just a standard heads up.  We will be doing a quick update to apply some patch fixes next week (most likely Friday), which will require a small amount of downtime.  With this maintenance we will be installing the Jive for Outlook Module - v1 plugin, as well as updating the Jive Events Extension and Archived (Do Not Use) to their latest version.  Most notable will be the ability to Share ideas again.  This feature has been non-functional since the 5.0.2.0 upgrade.

In this episode of Hats Off, I'd like to issue a shout out to Christine Schmidt.  Most recently, her team has upgraded to Jive 5 and has done a great job of leveraging the community to help her through the endeavor.  Everything from  training, configuration,  best practices and support, I have seen her leverage the Jive Community and its many constituents in full.  Thank you for sharing your conversations, and please continue to let us know how we can help.  rockstar

What Have I Been Doing?

 

This week has been busy, as I made my first trip up to Portland to meet my fellow Jivers on their home turf.  While the trip was rushed, definitely lots of positive things came from it. Most recently, I have started on an effort to a series of Social Solutions groups in the JC.  My first one is The specified item was not found. which I plan to promote with various customer service professionals to get conversations around how Social Business can be leverage to amplify customer support.  Hoping to get Will Rose and some other notable customers in there talking about their use-cases.  If you are interested, you should stop by and join, or check out the upcoming WebCast:

More of the same, but I'm excited that things are starting to wrap up such that we can start revealing piece of the our new structure, layout and community.  So stay tuned ...
