Case #86666: Usernames/E-mail Address - Express to SBS

We are about to seed our new instance of Jive Express with core users.

Our (strange) organization uses a format like jbd123 in LDAP (UNIX) for uid.  So John B. Doe has the email address

John also has an Exchange account where he can choose his own email address - say he picks (but his UID in AD is jbd123).  He uses this account 99.9% of the time.  He might not forward or even ever check his mailbox.

Is there a best practice for what to use for username/email address if  we expect to move to SBS in the future? I would think that we would be authenticating against LDAP; is there any reason to use over or vice versa?
