Jive has been pushing the boundaries to help people work better together for the past 16 years. It’s this dedicated focus that has enabled us to deliver the enterprise collaboration products and solutions you’ve come to know and love. We created this market to help people effectively connect, communicate and collaborate within their own organizations and with the customers and partners that matter most. Customers like you have been our guiding light, and along the way we have grown the Jive family to more than 30 million people around the world and nearly 1,000 companies. Your passion and support of Jive have helped to make our vision possible.

Today, we’ve come to an important milestone on the next leg of our journey. This morning we announced that ESW, through its affiliate, Wave, is acquiring Jive and that Jive will become a part of the Aurea family of companies.  Aurea is a technology solutions provider that delivers transformative customer experiences. With over 1,500 customers worldwide including Disney, British Airways, Bank of America, United Healthcare and MetLife, Aurea combines a commitment to customer success with innovative technology and world-class delivery.

 

So what does this mean for you and for Jive?

Aurea and Jive will unite to bring the power of our respective platforms to the task of optimizing employee and customer experiences for companies around the world. This includes powering engaging and intelligent collaborative experiences throughout the global business eco-system. Together, Aurea and Jive will provide differentiated employee, partner and customer experiences that improve business outcomes by connecting people and content, enabling them to collaborate securely and effectively across applications and organizations, and allowing businesses to leverage this collaborative intelligence.

There will be more steps in the process of completing the acquisition. The exact timing and details of closing are not yet known, but we expect the transaction to be completed sometime in June 2017. We will continue to share information as it becomes available.

Portland is home to our largest office, where our spirited Jivers work hard and enjoy the city’s gorgeous urban parks, world-renowned craft beers, famous food cart scene, unusual doughnuts, and, well, yes... this guy, too.

 

Ask many Portlanders what truly defines the city though, and they’ll tell you it’s their hometown heroes, the Portland Trail Blazers. The NBA’s Blazers are a Portland institution; and it was quite exciting when they chose to team up with Jive!

 

The Trail Blazers organization wanted to cultivate a unified culture across its front office employees and part-time event staff. They selected Jive to implement a collaboration hub for internal communications, project collaboration and employee support. Mike Janes, the Trail Blazers Vice President of Engineering and Technology told us, “We partnered with Jive to launch this solution because of your proven success in delivering communication and collaboration best practices.”

 

Although the team is renowned for their exploits on the court (which include 32 playoff appearances and an NBA championship), they’re nearly as well-known for their community involvement in Portland. Former Blazer great Bill Walton said, “Basketball is one of those rare opportunities where you can make a difference, not only for yourself, but for other people as well.” The Blazers organization has taken that sentiment to heart. Its stated mission is to “positively impact under-served kids and families where they live, learn, and play,” which includes the environment, education and sports. The Trail Blazers Foundation works with local nonprofits such as Girls Inc., Black Parent Initiative, and Latino Network, as well as Adaptive Sports Northwest and Community Cycling Center to help kids of all backgrounds, ethnicities and abilities to achieve their dreams. While it’s an honor to be working with a high-profile sports franchise, it's even more gratifying to see its collaborative spirit cross over into the organization's commitment to the community.

 

In business, as in sports, outstanding teamwork is the difference between moving the ball down the court or getting sidelined. To follow all the way through, your organization’s players must be aligned and driving toward the same goal. At Jive, we’re proud to be able to assist the Portland Trail Blazers in achieving their inspiring goals; especially when they hit so close to home. Doing well is the result of doing good” was said by Ralph Waldo Emerson in the 19th century about capitalism. I believe strongly in this philosophy and have looked to it to guide me when facing the harder decisions. If you do the right thing today, it will, in the end, deliver the best long-lasting result.

 

Humana is a Jive customer who practices this approach. With millions of customers and billions of dollars in sales, the world’s leading health and well-being company puts its money where its heart is. On tough issues like hurricane and flood relief to supporting homeless veterans, Humana gives back again and again and values people at the core. Earlier this year, the Human Rights Campaign recognized Humana as one of the best workplaces for LGBTQ equality in its annual Corporate Equality Index.

 

One of the ways Humana is able to champion its humanitarian efforts is by utilizing a combination of several Jive-powered internal and external communities to build relationships and trust between the people who make it all happen: employees, partners and their customers. Mike Bellissimo, enterprise vice president at Humana, explained at our recent Jive Executive Advisory Board meeting, “Communities establish trust, and that trust enables partnership.”

 

Humana supports employees with an interactive intranet, called “Fuse,” to bring thousands of dispersed, diverse associates together to collaborate, find content and share expertise, no matter where they are. “They know they can ask questions. They know that they can find the solutions they need,” says Humana Digital Innovation Manager Sabrina Deitch. “Jive is, for us, the ability to connect the right people, the right content at the right time, all through one single front door no matter what their location may be.”

 

Humana employees work hard to prove every day that doing good and doing well go hand in hand. Thank you, Humana team, for our partnership in innovation and good!

GoDaddy, Go All

The subject of Women in Technology receives some great public support from all of the STEM programs, diversity awareness initiatives and open conversations that are happening in Silicon Valley and around the world. But, with women holding just 25 percent of computing positions at US technology companies, it’s pretty clear we need more representation. There is significant room for improvement and a need for more people to take action. I am inspired by what Blake Irving, CEO of GoDaddy has been doing in this area. He's always been committed to helping with the challenges of women in tech - and he's recently made key decisions that set the example for how to truly make a difference.

 

GoDaddy is taking significant strides to help close the gender pay gap, which is in line with another organization we support at Jive – HeForShe. Last year, Blake approved a plan for the company that is almost unprecedented in any industry: it brought balance to the gender pay gap at GoDaddy while nearly tripling its percentage of female engineering hires. This past summer, GoDaddy joined President Obama and 27 other leading businesses at the United State of Women Summit in Washington, D.C., to commit to the federal “Fair Pay Pledge,” which is designed to close the pay gap between men and women in the US. Those accomplishments, among many others, recently earned GoDaddy a coveted spot on the Anita Borg Institute’s (ABI) Top Companies for Women Technologists list. GoDaddy!

 

One of the big ways the company is closing the gender gap and opening the dialogue on many topics is via a modern collaboration hub that is accessible to all of its 5,000 employees. In an article about diversity in The Next Web, Blake notes the importance of communication when it comes to ensuring gender equity across the entire company. “For us, we are big into visibility and transparency,” he said. And, the company’s Chief People Officer, Auguste Goldman, recently told us that having a digital "mosh pit of ideas" built on Jive's technology gives people at GoDaddy a voice and a place to engage around a shared sense of mission. We all know that being in touch with a larger mission is critical for employee engagement and empowerment. GoDaddy is raising the bar and reaping the benefits.

 

There’s still much more to be done, but I’m excited about what Blake, Auguste and the entire GoDaddy team is doing for women in tech as they build great culture and practice transparent leadership. Thank you, GoDaddy team, from everybody here at Jive, for continuing to push the boundaries of what's possible at work with an amazing combination of people and tech.

But, even with all this opportunity, there’s a huge engagement gap today in U.S. business, with disengaged workers outnumbering engaged employees 2:1. From 150M content searches per month across Jive-n interactive intranets to 224M monthly activities across Jive-x communities, to 16B page views generated each year from our products, you've all brought Jive to new heights. That's why the biggest standout of this year at Jive has been you!

 

Favorite Moments

My favorite moments on the job are hearing about what Jive uniquely means to each of our customers. You have accomplished much by leveraging Jive, and we're grateful for the role we play in helping further your missions. Here are just a few highlights of 2015:

  • Organizations around the world are turning to Jive to help build amazing company culture. Cisco, Cristal Union, Deutsche Telekom, Devoteam, FICO, GoDaddy, Grant Thornton, Modern Times Group, Portland Trailblazers, Standard Chartered Bank, SunEdison and Wichita State University are just a sampling of companies leveraging Jive-n as their hub for digital transformation.
  • We’re proud to support the work of HeforShe, a UN initiative that promotes gender equality around the world. I want to extend a big thanks to the program sponsor, PwC, for their partnership and commitment to supporting this solidarity movement. Jive-x is being leveraged to create a global networking community that drives awareness, activation and participation in the HeforShe campaign. Organizations like Akamai, Conecteo, Ellucian, Lifesize and Pink Petro (just to name a few) have also built powerful new Jive-x communities to connect their customers, partners and other important audiences.
  • We've made great strides for Healthcare solutions this year. Innovative providers – like Aetna, Humana, Parkview Health, Spectrum Health, UnitedHealthGroup, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs are all building interactive intranets to help thousands of physicians and employees better collaborate and share valuable medical knowledge that ultimately improves patient care.
  • Jive's cloud business is now growing rapidly. The majority of Jive's new customers are selecting cloud for their solution. And many of our larger customers like Aetna, Cisco, Cox Automotive, Pearson, Starwood and Thomson Reuters are taking advantage of our cloud offering at scale.

 

These examples are just the beginning when it comes to the amazing stories I’ve heard from our customers all year long - the list of new and established communities goes on and on.

Product Innovation Driven By You!

I'm proud of how much of your feedback we've incorporated into our Jive-n and Jive-x releases, as well as our Jive 8 hosted offering in 2015. Your input came in through the Jive Community Ideas Space and meetings with our product teams. This input prompted great improvements to our news experience, mobile apps and much more. We also revamped how we deliver new features and communication around quarterly releases in direct response to your feedback. You'll continue to see plenty of customer-driven innovation from us in 2016, so keep pushing us to do even better and we'll keep listening.

 

I would also like to recognize all of our members who make the award-winning Jive Community such a great place for peer-to-peer support. I'm thrilled that we've just launched our brand-new Jive Customers space, and can't wait to see how it becomes your central communications hub for all things Jive. And a special shout out to our Jive Champions, Advocates and Executive Advisory Board who share their product input, implementation stories, answers to newcomer questions and general support for other members.

 

It’s inspiring to see all the wonderful ways your efforts are helping the world work better together. I'd love to hear any stories you want to share as comments on this blog.

I’m honored to address this community with my first post as Jive’s CEO! As many of you know I was a customer for many years before I even came to Jive. When I joined just over a year ago, it was because I loved the product. Now I love the company – and all of our customers – like family.

 

As CEO, I will use my passion for the company and our customers to support you and drive our business forward. Jive is an innovator in our market and we have a clear vision for how to move forward. We have the right team in place to take Jive to the next stage. And as you would all agree, we have the right products – whether for your internal collaboration or external community needs – to do just that.

 

Thank you for supporting Jive as all of you do. You continue to invigorate, challenge and inspire us every day. Our commitment to you is to continue to change the world with apps and software that help people connect, communicate and collaborate.  I’m more excited than ever about the direction we are taking Jive and I’m thrilled you are on this journey with us!

Living Jive

It seems like just yesterday we were together at JiveWorld. It was the high point of my time at Jive to meet so many of you and engage in meaningful discussions about our collective journey to help the world work better together.

 

When we developed the communications plan for today’s leadership evolution announcement, you our Jive Community were at the top of our priority list. We announced that Tony Zingale is retiring as CEO of Jive and taking on a new role as Executive Chairman. We also announced that I am assuming the role of President at Jive, and am working together with Bill Lanfri, who has served on Jive’s board for over 6 years, in the newly formed Office of the CEO.

 

I want to share some context on these changes and answer questions you may have. After all, it is because of you and our hard-working Jivers that we enjoy a leadership position in a dynamic and growing market.

 

Although I joined Jive just under a year ago, I feel like I have worked for Jive for much longer! Many of you know that I was an early customer in 2007 and I was instantly hooked. Years later, I find myself at Jive with great passion and motivation to drive the business forward. I have worked very closely with Tony since I joined and he's been a great mentor and boss. Tony is an incredibly impactful leader whose competitiveness, vision and ability to connect with people have helped Jive become the market-changing company it is today. I am very pleased that I am continuing to work with him in his expanded role as Executive Chairman.

 

We are on a journey to help the world work better together, and you are an invaluable success factor in that mission. I am confident that the changes at Jive will help us accomplish – and hopefully exceed – our goals. You may be wondering how these changes will impact you. It is important for you to understand that Jive’s vision remains the same – to enable the world to do great work. We are going to continue delivering the same winning experiences as always, growing our ~1,000-strong customer base and 30M user base and moving forward with our intense focus on mutual success. We’ve just announced solid Q3 results and saw a record amount of new business coming from the cloud. Wall Street is expecting us to close $175M+ in revenue this year and we’ve already closed three-quarters of a billion dollars in business since we started Jive. We are on a trajectory and are driving hard to continue enabling the world to connect, communicate and collaborate.

 

I want to thank you again for your business and participation in the community. I so enjoy connecting with you in the various forums we have throughout the year – here in the Jive Community, in our user groups, at JiveWorld, at our Partner Summit and through our Champions and Executive Advisory Board sessions.
