JiveWorld13 is fast approaching and the News Blog has been bringing you the latest special announcements about our keynote speakers and Jive Awards. And we are at it again, revealing today JiveWorld13's plans for the Developer Day on October 22nd and launch our Producteev Developer Challenge! Jive is one of the most developer friendly social business platforms -- purposely designed so that developers can create innovative social business solutions by directly building on the platform.

This year we are starting the festivities early by calling all developers to get involved in our Producteev Developer Challenge, which begins August 29th and continues until October 18th. Below is a brief list and description of the events, as always head to our JiveWorld13 site for more information. Don't forget to keep checking our News Blog for updates. See you at JiveWorld!

  • Producteev Developer Challenge

Adding social task management to any application is now easier than ever with the new Producteev API. The new API allows you to quickly create projects, manage and assign tasks and collaborate on notes. We're so excited about the new API that we want everyone to start using it! Starting August 29th, we're calling all developers to show your creative side with the Producteev Developer Challenge. To participate all you have to do is use Producteev's new API to integrate social task management into an existing application--or build an entirely new app. Register here to receive your API key and don't forget to review the rules and restrictions. You can submit your entries here, and keep in mind the deadline for submissions is Friday October 18th. The winners will be announced at JiveWorld13 on October 24th. Prizes will be awarded to Best in Show, Runner-up, and Random Drawing from the pool of all entries.

  • Developer Track

At JiveWorld13, we are offering a Developer Track with a variety of technical sessions on the subject of Apps, Mobile, and Purposeful Places. During these sessions developers will get to hear from Jive engineers, customers, and partners. This track is the place to be to learn how to build powerful solutions.

  • "Hacker Lounge" @ the Purposeful Place for Developers

Throughout the entire conference, Jive will have engineers, designers, and technical staff available to answer questions, share tips and tricks and assist you and your ideas on how to extend Jive. Don't be afraid to pull out your notebook and get your hands dirty with some examples and pair programming.

  • Open Hack & Beer.JS

If you love to hack then the Beer.JS meet-up is where you want to be on Tuesday, October 22nd. From high noon to the welcome reception, we’ll be holding our first ever Beer.JS where developers can come together to work on projects, discuss technical topics, and share ideas. If you’ve been working on an integration with Jive get started by suggesting your idea in our community group and follow us on Twitter (@JiveDev). This event is free but don’t forget to RSVP!

  • "Beer Dark 30"

Last year, we hacked all night to build the Jive Albums app. Now, you get a chance to join us! We'll have a "Special Ops" engagement of open hack called "Beer Dark 30" from 11:00 pm - 1:00 am on Wednesday night. Like the Open Hack, this will be your chance to work hands-on with our engineers, designers, & technical staff on building interesting integrations on the Jive platform. Hey, it's Vegas! What else would you do at midnight?

  • Jive Developer Training

If you’re looking for something a little more formal to get you ready for your next challenge, then plan to attend our Developer Training! We will be exploring the different options for extending Jive's functionality in an upgrade-safe fashion. Details and registration can be found in the "Under the Hood" section of our Pre-Conference Training registration page so don't forget to save yourself a spot!

As you can tell, we have pumped up the level of developer activities at JiveWorld (and in advance) and are excited to see the results.

Today, I'm excited to post about Lucidchart becoming the first third party pre-installed application for all users of Jive 6 or Jive Cloud! If you have not used Lucidchart, you are really missing out. Lucidchart enables you to create powerful diagrams that express your complex business processes, work flows, and pretty much anything else you can think of!

Because Lucidchart takes advantage of the Jive's !App Experiences, with one keystroke you can quickly start collaborating around your diagrams by inserting them into discussions, documents, blog posts and more. These diagrams will naturally flow throughout Jive, including in the What Matters Activity Stream.

Never before has sharing diagrams been this powerful or this easy! Check out the press release here. Join us in the Lucidchart group in the Jive Community and let us know what you think.
