We’ve been busy in the Portland office these past few months.  Already one of the larger Jive offices around the world, we took advantage of a new floor that opened up in our building (located right in the heart of downtown Portland) and made some fun changes to offer a rich collaborative environment.  We are also big believers in work/life balance and as part of that added a new gym where employees can take a break from the action to workout or participate in a yoga class.  Take a look at some of the collaborative work spaces and advancements we have made to the Portland office as of late.

And apparently we are not the only ones noticing -- Jive was recently voted by the Portland Business Journal as one of Oregon's Most Admired Companies. We're proud to play a key role in the growing and thriving Portland business community and are honored to be recognized among the other list of companies.  Here’s to more exciting updates for Jive in Portland in 2014.

In the wake of "Lean In" by Sheryl Sandberg and the increase in attention garnered for the issues facing women in the tech industry, along with the benefits gained by increasing the number of women at all levels of an organization, Jivers are working together to improve the careers and strengthen the networks of our female staff.

This past Tuesday, Jive hosted the Portland chapter of Women in Information Technology (WIIT) for a networking meet-up at our Portland office. The event planned by Jive's very own Leona Campbell and Liz Savage, brought together inspiring and energetic women from a wide range of roles, levels, and companies in the Portland tech community. Intel, Nike, New Relic, Puppet Labs, Survey Monkey, and Sage Software were among the many organizations that were represented on Tuesday night.

WIIT holds monthly meet-ups hosted by various tech companies in Portland. It is refreshing to see such intelligent and savvy women come together to build a strong community and foster relationships in a field that is predominantly male. A recent article in The Guardian regarding the decline of women in technology cited the lack of role models and mentors in the tech workplace as a main deterrent to getting more women into the tech industry. Groups like WIIT are instrumental in creating more visibility of women in tech environments and Jive was proud to be able to host such a successful and rewarding event. You can join their group on LinkedIn or follow them on Twitter (@pdxwiit)  for more information on their next networking event.

Last Thursday, Jive was given an incredible honor.  We were named #10 on the 100 Best Companies
to Work for in Oregon! With this being our first year participating in the
survey, this is a big accomplishment! As a long time Jiver myself, I’m thrilled but not surprised, because we have such outstanding
employees!!

The award was given to us by the Oregon Business
Magazine (
http://www.oregonbusiness.com/), which tallied votes from more
than 13,000 employees from various companies across the state. We were included
in the large company category for having more than 100 employees based in
Oregon and we were the highest rated software company! The survey measures both
employee satisfaction and the importance employees place on a comprehensive set
of workplace qualities such as culture, benefits, compensation and work
environment. You can see a full list of the top 100 here:

@ClubFed, our office space in Portland, was also featured in a video that was played at the
award’s banquet. Many Portland Jivers were captured in the footage and Jenny
Mayo spoke about our great culture.

What’s particularly great about this honor is that it comes at a time when
Jive is hiring in our beautiful downtown Portland location and about to expand
our physical footprint at Club Fed. This year, we plan to grow the Portland
team between 25-30%, across almost all of our functions to support our business
growth and tap into the great talent in the area.

More about our expansion can be found here (http://investors.jivesoftware.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=744933) and more on our job openings in all of our Jive locations can be found

San Francisco has a new tenant and it’s us!  Today, marks the official opening of our new Jive office in San Francisco’s South of Market (SoMA) district and we’re so excited. Not only do we now have a home at the center of so much energy and innovation, we’re also able to offer some of our team members less time on 101 and a balanced lifestyle.

Being in San Francisco has already allowed us to tap into the wealth of tech and sales talent in the city and expand our footprint beyond Palo Alto, Portland and Boulder in the US.  We’ll be tweeting from our San Francisco office grand opening event this evening, at the #JiveSF hashtag and you can follow us @JiveSoftware.
