Exciting news!

We are happy to announce that CSA Group has recently joined our loyal crew of EdgePack (formerly known as the Community Manager Tile Pack) owners! This new EdgePack acquisition by CSA now brings our "12 for 12" campaign down to 11, getting our clients closer to us having the Event Tile to EdgePack for Jive at no additional cost. Big thank you to Peter Broadley and the CSA team and welcome to our EdgePack family!

What is the 12 for 12 campaign?

In order to add the Event Tile to EdgePack at no additional cost to our existing clients, we are implementing this "12 for 12" campaign. Once we have reached 12 new EdgePack clients the Event Tile will be included in EdgePack once development has been finalized and the product has launched. For more information on this program, check out this blog post.

Get the Event Tile faster.

Just like in our consumer lives, prospective clients look to peers to help them assess buying opportunities. We believe that if clients signal to their peer group the value they are receiving from our tile package, this will accelerate the process.

Help spread the word!

  • Post and rate your personal experience of our products in AureaWorks and tag Social Edge Consulting
  • Tweet about your experience with our products on social media. Tag us @social_edge and use the hashtags #myTBSEstory and #TBSE12for12
  • Add a review and rate our Tile Pack or any of our tiles in our online store
  • Privately let a peer know about the value you received from our tiles

Stay tuned for more news - we will continue to update our countdown in AureaWorks so the community will be aware of when we reach our goal!

Do your community members work in both Jive and Slack? If so, we have great news for you! We are very excited to announce that we have been working on a new product, our Slack Integration for Jive, which will enable you to now have the ability to connect any Jive space or group to a Slack channel in a workplace!

Our Slack Integration for Jive focuses on three key features: Share, Sync, and Search

Share Jive Content in Slack and Reply Back

You've asked a question in Jive but you're not getting the answer you need. You want to share the question in Slack because you know there are users there that will help you. Once you get the answer in Slack, you can then share that reply back to Jive.

Sync Content in a Jive Place with a Slack Channel

You have a Jive place that is the home for important communications - Corp Comm, IT News, CEO blogs, etc. You want content that is created in this place to automatically sync to a Jive channel, so that users will be notified in Slack where they are doing their day to day work.

Search Jive without leaving Slack

Users in Slack tend to work in Slack for most of the day. When they want to reference Jive content, instead of having to leave Slack to go search Jive content, they can search right from Slack.

Additional Features

  • This integration syncs with just one Slack workspace, but can be connected to multiple Slack channels within that workspace.
  • We hard-code the URL for your Slack workspace into the product.
  • It is compatible with Cloud and Hosted/On Premise versions of Jive.

I'm interested... tell me more. When will it be available?

Very soon! We plan on releasing our Slack Integration for Jive in early 2020, so stay tuned for more updates in the coming weeks.

If you would like to be part of our beta program, be the first to hear about the launch, or simply learn more about the integration, comment below or email us at contact@socialedgeconsulting.com.

Thank you for your feedback and suggestions on what our 12th tile should be! We really appreciate all of the input we've received from our clients and the AureaWorks community.

We're very excited to announce that Tile #12 will be... the Event Tile!

Our goal is to continue to build products that provide value to your communities, and the insight we've received is important to us as we continue to grow and expand our portfolio of products. We are very excited to be able to include an Event Tile as one of our product offerings, and will continue to provide you with updates throughout the development process.

For those who showed interest in and voted for the Event Tile, now is your chance to tell you what you would like to see in it! Let us know in the comments the features you'd like to see and how you plan on using it in your community.

Once we have finalized development and launched the tile, we plan on making it available to purchase a la carte via our store or by SOW. We also want to add the Event Tile to our Tile Pack without having to raise the cost of the Tile Pack for our customers. In order to do so, we are implementing this "12 for 12" campaign, where we will add product #12 to the Tile Pack once we have reached 12 new tile pack customers. We will be providing updates and a countdown in AureaWorks so the community will be aware of when we reach our goal. For more information on this program, check out this blog post.

How to get the Event Tile faster

Just like in our consumer lives, prospective clients look to peers to help them assess buying opportunities. We believe that if clients signal to their peer group the value they are receiving from our tile package, this will accelerate the purchasing cycles and thus get everyone the 12th tile faster.

Help us spread the word!

Earlier this year we added tiles #10 (Activity) and #11 (Video) to the Tile Pack with no price change. The big question from our clients is when will we add more new products!

We are very excited to announce we are gearing up to launch a new tile - and we want your input on what it should be! Based on feedback we've received from our customers as well as the results from our last poll, we have narrowed down the options to three potential new tiles, and would like our customers and the AureaWorks community to help vote on what that tile should be.

12th Tile Options:

  • RSS Tile
Our RSS Tile will allow you to pull in public RSS feeds from external websites and social media.
  • People Tile
Our People Tile allows you to easily display employees/members in an attractive list showing their avatar, name, title, department and location. The tile is configurable to show new members (or new hires) who have joined in the past 30-90 days as well as a minimum and maximum number to display.
  • Event Tile
The Event Tile drives greater participation by providing configurable details about the event (e.g., what and when). This tile uses available imagery and will dynamically pull events from selected places or allow a moderator to manually curate a list of events.

Our goal is to add product #12 to our Tile Pack without having to raise the cost of the Tile Pack for our customers. In order to do so, we are implementing this "12 for 12" campaign, where we will add product #12 to the Tile Pack once we have reached 12 new tile pack customers. We wanted to be transparent around this process as we have in the past, and will be providing updates and a countdown in AureaWorks so the community will be aware of when we reach our goal. For more information on this program, check out this blog post. Once we have finalized development and launched the tile, we plan on making it available to purchase a la carte via our store or by SOW.

You can track our 12 for 12 progress in the Social Edge space in AureaWorks. We will count down the new clients and let you know who purchased, by company name or industry (depending on the permission we receive).

In the meantime, please check out our survey and rank the tiles from the one you would like most (1) to least (3).

We will keep you updated on the winner once voting has closed!

Everyone has heard the old proverb "you can't have your cake and eat it too." Once you've had your cake, it's gone and you're on the hook to buy or make another. However, in the world of product pricing, we've found a way to provide our customers with more tiles (cake) while keeping the cost down (so you don't have to spend more for another).

Backstory

Several years ago, we started building Jive widgets (now tiles) for our Jive customers. A custom tile could be reasonably priced between $15-25K depending on the depth and complexity of its functionality. As we built more of these add-on products, we decided to offer them as a package. When we launched this package, for the price of just one product ($25K) you could receive all 7 of our most popular tiles at that time. We would charge that price annually providing upgrade safe support and innovation. The concept was right, but the cost and value ratio was not.

Tiles for all

We are fortunate to have worked with over 500 diverse clients, many of whom are in the small to medium-size market. In order for clients of all sizes to gain the benefits from our products, we made two pricing changes about two years ago. We dropped our a la carte pricing down to the $3-5K a year range per tile and also reduced our package price down to $10K/year. Today, over 100 Jive customers own one or more of our tiles.

Today, you can receive 11 of our tiles for that $10k/yr with the upgrade safe support and innovation included.

We want more products!

A few months ago, we inventoried all of our custom Jive project work and found over a dozen tiles, integrations, and other products. We will share those on our website and AureaWorks with a la carte pricing soon.

Product positioning dilemma

Why would we present all of these new products but not add them to the Tile Pack? The issue is that to support adding new products to the package, we would have to increase the cost or have more new clients purchase the tile package. We do not want to increase the price!

So we're offering all of the new products with a la carte pricing. Additionally, we will add one of them to the tile package — product number 12.  You can help choose what that will be by voting in this poll. However, we won't add it until we receive 12 additional tile package customers. Learn more about our "12 for 12" program here.

By doing this, we will have the client base to support 12 products in the package but do not need to increase the cost of the package. It will still cost the same $10K/year. If this works well, we could look to add additional products using the same approach. We expect our clients will respond favorably to receiving additional products at no additional cost.

How to get the new product faster

Just like in our consumer lives, prospective clients look to peers to help them assess buying opportunities. We believe that if clients signal to their peer group the value they are receiving from our tile package, this will accelerate the purchasing cycles and thus get everyone the 12th tile faster.

Help us spread the word!

  • Add a review and rate our Tile Pack or any of our tiles in our online store
  • Privately let a peer know about the value you received from our tiles

We think this will result in a win for everyone involved. It will allow your costs to remain stable while still increasing the value of new products and innovations. Maybe not as tasty as cake, but it will be the next best thing.

We've recently updated our Accordion & Blog Tiles.  The Accordion Tile, which was included as part of our CMAD 2019 promo has just been enhanced based on our customer feedback for the 2.0 release!

Check out the details below for a summary of some of the enhancements to our Accordion Tile.   For full release details, and information on the Blog Tile maintenance release check out the Release Notes.

Accordion 2.0 Updates & Enhancements

We have made a few updates to the settings of Accordion so you have more control over the display of the tile, allowing you to have more control on the design on this versatile tile.

Customize the band height setting.

  • Admins can now set the height of the band height in the tile, this allows you to set a height that better matches the font size and overall look and feel of the tile.  Check out the examples below:

Example with narrow headers (height set in Advanced Settings).

Example with wider headers (height set in Advanced Settings).

Header Padding adjustments.

  • We have also adjusted the settings so that there is no longer additional padding if your header items do not have an icon. The copy will now shift to the left if you have no icons selected.

Before: Padding was forced on Header with no icon.

Updated: Header now is pushed left to line up with other headers.

There's more!!

A few other enhancements to note:

  • Google Analytics Tracking - Administrators can add Google Analytics tracking to get advanced insight into interaction with the tile. The new analytics configuration supports either Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager.
  • Custom HTML/CSS section above and below tile - Previously, HTML/CSS could only be added above the tile. Now, there is an additional  configuration to add content below the results.
  • Icon Preview - Font Awesome icons are now displayed in a preview, so you can view before you publish.

For full release details and information on the Accordion 2.0 release, and the Blog Tile maintenance release check out the Release Notes.

We recently made updates to two of our most popular tiles: Search & Mosaic. The post below highlights some of the new feature enhancements.

If you have purchased your tiles from the Social Edge store, you will receive an email notification with your download information. For our SOW customers, we will reach out to you directly with your download information.

For a full list of all updates, enhancements and bug fixes, please check out the latest release notes over at the Products by Social Edge Store.

Search & Mosaic updates

Both Search and Mosaic have the following enhancements in this release:

Custom HTML/CSS can now be added below the tiles.

While the ability to add HTML headers has always been available, you now have the flexibility to add custom HTML beneath the tiles as well. This gives admins more room to add introductory messages, calls to action and other information above and below the tile. This extra room for HTML is especially useful on the Jive News/Homepage where you are limited to how many tiles you can use in the top hero sections.

Add your custom HTML both above and below your tiles if you want to get crazy!!

Mosaic exExample Mosaic Tile with HTML configured above and below the tile

Google Analytics Tracking.

Administrators can add Google Analytics tracking to get advanced insight into interaction with the tile. The new analytics configuration supports either Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager. We have been rolling this out on most of our tiles, so we are pleased to now have this functionality available on Mosaic.

Search 2.0 Highlights

The Search tile also has some enhancements that we are excited about - check out a few of the major ones below.

New Configuration option to add a CTA to "Post a Question"

To make the Search tile even easier to configure, we have created a configuration option to allow admins to quickly and easily add in a button to post a new question at the bottom of the results.  You no longer need to add HTML to achieve this!

New Footer Configuration Options

Additional search results panels.

We've increased the number of results panels from three to ten.  Admins can now add more results panels to help users find the right results.

Additional Search Result Tabs

Places & People are now included in the results.

You can now configure the tile to search for People and Places in addition to the content results. In the configuration panel, you can choose to display all three (Content, People & Places) or select which one(s) you prefer.

Example Results showing People, Places, and Content

Other Search Tile updates:

  • Structured outcomes are optionally visible in results
  • Configuration option added to open results in a new window
  • Configuration option updated to allow admins to configure the width of the input box
  • New option to adjust the tile margins

On Wednesday, June 19th Social Edge hosted our first Customer Panel on how to build better use cases in your online community. We were lucky to have panelists Dina Vekaria-Patel and Dori Gray, Community Managers at Pearson and Medidata respectively, present their community management tips and tricks and use case best practices. Attendees were also able to see live demos of both Dina and Dori's communities, Pearson's Neo and Medidata Express.

Attendance was great and our attendees were engaged throughout the session. At the end of the presentations we had time for an open floor discussion and Dina and Dori were able to answer questions that were coming in throughout the session from attendees. We even ended up extending the panel another fifteen minutes to make sure everyone had a chance to ask their questions and have them answered!

Some highlights from our panelists included:

Dina Vekaria presenting Pearson Neo

  • Dina presented a content calendar she uses to plan out content in advance to ensure that information and news in the community is fresh and up to date.

  • Dina also talked about repurposing content - one example she shared was how she took Pearson's PDF newsletter and transformed it into a Jive document in the community so it's easy for employees to find and access it internally.

  • During Dina's live demo of Neo, she shared a variety of different examples that show how she's continuing to innovate in her internal community, including Welcome to Pearson, the Pearson Innovation Hub, and the Pearson Global Advocates Hub.

Dori Gray presenting Medidata Express

  • Dori shared her tips on consistency in the community. At Medidata, all of the App Support spaces have the seem look and feel so it's easy for employees to go from place to place and know exactly where they can find what they need without having to dig around for it.

  • Dori also presented Medidata's Event Hub - a one-stop shop that houses all of the official corporate events happening at Medidata, making it easy for employees to be able to go there and see what's happening that week, month, etc.

  • Another initiative for Dori at Medidata was to end all of those never-ending "reply all" emails. Working with her community intern, they were able to implement departmental collaboration groups for employees to use instead of continuing to communicate via email.

Check out more examples of how Dina and Dori are innovating in in their internal communities below!

Unable to attend? You can catch up on the panel and see their live demos by watching the recording here!

Are you interested in learning how to build better use cases in your community? Are you looking for best practices on how to curate content and create meaningful places that enable community members to find what they need in a more efficient way?

Dina and Dori will walk us through some of the unique and innovative use cases and places they've built in their communities as well as share their top tips and best practices on creating and managing them. Both panelists are EdgePack for Jive owners, so you'll also have the opportunity to see some of our tiles in action on different spaces and groups in their communities. Following their presentations there will be an open floor / Q&A session with both panelists as well as experts from the Social Edge team.

We are thrilled to announce that our Activity and Video Tiles are finally available to Jive and Lithium JX customers! As you may know, back in August we asked the AureaWorks community what new tiles they would like to see us add to our collection of Tiles by Social Edge. We received really great suggestions and feedback from the community. We took the most requested tile ideas and had our clients and the AureaWorks community vote on the tile they wanted most.

When we got the results back, we saw there were two clear winners: Activity and Video. Instead of just building one of the tiles, we decided to build both as a thank you to everyone who participated. After months in development and testing, both tiles are finally here and we are so excited to finally be able to show them off!

Here's some more information about each of the new tiles:

Activity Tile

Activity feeds are the bedrock of Jive communities. Our new customizable Activity Tile dynamically pulls activity streams onto a home page or any space, group or project page.

Key features:

  • Display activity streams for the entire community, a specific place or places, or a person.
  • Display and organize multiple activity streams on a page by using custom tabs.
  • Unlike Jive's out-of-the-box Super List, you can interact within the tile (comment, like, share) instead of having to click on a content item and navigate to the new page in order to respond.
  • Additional configuration options allow you to decide what types of content to display, enabling you to create an Activity Tile that displays all recent content or specific types of content, such as discussions or documents.

Video Tile

Our customizable Video Tile allows you to display videos in a gallery format. You can choose from two layout options to either display an individual video or curate a set of videos from a specific place in Jive or an external source. You can even override a default video thumbnail image with an image of your choosing for a curated individual video.Key features:

  • Feature a gallery of videos on any page with a featured video, or feature just one video.
  • Curate individual videos and override the default video thumbnail image with another image.
  • Pick a place and automatically allow videos to appear in the tile based on most recently uploaded. Videos can also be from external sources, including YouTube and Vimeo.

Thank you again to everyone who participated in the discussions and voted on the new tiles. We hope you love these new tiles as much as we do and look forward to hearing what you think!

... March 14th!

We are very excited to announce that both the Activity and Video Tiles will be available on Thursday, March 14th. We developed these tiles based on the suggestions and feedback we received from the AureaWorks community (see The results are in! The 10th Tile by Social Edge will be... for more information). Both tiles will be added to the Community Manager Tile Pack, and will also be available to purchase individually.

Follow us on Twitter @social_edge to get more updates on the tiles and their features in the days to come!

Happy Community Management Appreciation Day! On this day of appreciation, we would like all Jive and Lithium JX clients to experience the benefits of a premium Tile by Social Edge.

Today, we are announcing that you can purchase the Accordion Tile for zero dollars if you act by March 1, 2019.

This is not a trial or teaser offer. If you accept this offer, you will never pay for this tile in the future. This is a "purchase" in that you will sign a zero dollar contract that will allow us to provide you with the same quality support we offer all of our customers. We will also continue to deliver innovation through new releases and tile enhancements. The Accordion Tile is highly used by our Community Manager Tile Pack owners, so it will be straightforward for us to provide support and innovation for this product.

Why the Accordion Tile? Our team looked carefully at all of our products and determined that the Accordion Tile would have the broadest appeal to our clients. It allows you to clearly organize the navigational elements of any business use case in an interesting and aesthetically pleasing way. The Accordion Tile is a space saver, rolling up what are otherwise long lists of navigation links. The use of icons in addition to text makes it attractive and effortless for users to find what they are looking for.

If this is the only tile, product or service you ever use with Social Edge, that is perfectly fine, and we hope you enjoy the full benefits from this product. If you do find it improves your community, we do hope you will consider evaluating our Tile Pack, other products, and services at some point in the future.

We have been building Jive tiles for several years and have been getting incredible feedback on our Community Manager Tile Pack. Almost one hundred clients have subscribed to over three hundred tiles thus far. Our tiles demonstrate that they fill in key product gaps and help business leaders create better outcomes and results in their communities.

In a few weeks, we will be launching our new Activity Tile and Video Tile, and will be adding them to our Tile Pack at no additional charge. Follow us in our Social Edge Consulting space in AureaWorks or on Twitter to stay up to date on the latest information.

For now, we hope you enjoy this offer, and we wish you and your community nothing but the best in 2019 and beyond.

Get the Accordion Tile!

The team at Social Edge has been working to update and improve our tiles, and we are gearing up to release new versions of two of our most popular tiles: Blog & Search. Check out the details below for a preview of some of the key features and improvements that are coming soon.

If you are a current TBSE customer (individual tiles or CM Tile Pack) you will receive a notification when these releases are available for download.

Blog Tile Enhancements

1. Restrict results by Tag

Currently you can use the filters to sort multiple blog posts by tag, but we are adding an additional option that will allow you to restrict by tag in the configuration panel. This feature will come in handy if, for example you only want to display the blog posts from your latest newsletter edition that are tagged "Q4."

Restrict by tag option in Blog Tile Configuration Panel

2. Improved Filters

Based on your feedback, we are making it easier to customize which posts display when you first load the tile by removing the "ALL" button. Now your filters will appear in the order you set, or you can select a specific filter to be set as the default.  Additionally, your community members can choose to "Filter by" and "Clear filters" for enhanced user experience.

Search Tile Enhancements

1. Additional search results panels.

Admins can now add more than just three results panels to any search tile to help guide your users to finding the right results.

2. Places & People are now included in the results.

You can now configure the tile to search for People and Places in addition to the content results. Results will display based on selected configuration in order to best make use of horizontal space.

Configure People and Places results to show in the Search Tile (example)

3. Add a custom HTML footer.

Further customize your tile with the added functionality to add HTML to the footer in addition to the current optional HTML header. Many of our Search tile customers take advantage of the HTML header (and now footer!) to use this tile on the News page in a place where there is only room for one tile; this allows you to add additional calls to action, content features and helpful links next to the Search Tile.

This is just a preview of some of the key updates we know many of our current TBSE customers have asked for! As always we will send an update with full release notes listing all enhancements and fixes to each tile.

Are you a current TBSE Customer? If you are enjoying your tiles or have feedback, please visit any product page on our store and leave a review!
