These past few weeks have seen several new sales of EdgePack for Jive. Welcome to the new clients who now own EdgePack!

 

These new sales of EdgePack may be driven in part by this unique business environment. We’re hearing from most of our clients that the COVID-19 pandemic has created a renewed and deep interest in their communities. Their employee bases are working from home (#WFH) and looking for better ways to connect with colleagues and get their work done.

We're excited to announce the launch of our newest product, the Event Tile! As you know, a few months back, we asked our clients and the AureaWorks community which new tile they would like to see added to our suite of available products. After taking the suggestions into consideration, we took the most requested tiles and then put up a poll, which our clients and this community voted on.

 

The Event Tile was our 12th Tile winner - and we are happy to say that it is now available for individual purchase in our online store or via SOW!

Our customizable Event Tile allows you to display current and upcoming events on both the community homepage or landing page. It's configurable to show filters by event categories and tags, as well as organize multiple tabbed pages of events coming from one or more places.

  • Design a custom HTML header and/or footer for the tile

Recent Releases

We've updated eight of our Tiles for Jive. These releases include general bug fixes as well as enhancements based on the feedback we have received from our current customers. Customers can check out the Release Notes.

 

Product User Guides & Support

We've moved our user guides and support documentation to an online portal. The guides for all 11 tiles included in EdgePack for Jive can now be accessed on-demand and will show the latest versions. No more PDFs to have to sift through and download! Browse through the general guides (e.g. how to install your tile, how to copy your tile's configuration) or dive into individual tile configuration guides.

Google Analytics Feature Enhancement

Based on customer feedback, we have updated the Google Analytics tracking configuration options in our tiles.*  This enhancement includes an update to the configuration panel that will allow administrators to give each tile a "nickname." This nickname will make it easier for you to clearly identify which tile is being tracked in your Google Analytics reporting. This is especially useful if you are using multiple tiles on your pages, particularly if they are the same tile.

DPP Update

ICYMI: We also recently re-branded our data privacy tool from the "GDPR Addon" to the Data Privacy Pack.

Coming Soon: Event Tile!

We are also very excited that our newest Event Tile for Jive is almost ready! See below for a short overview of the tile and stay tuned for updates on when it will be available for purchase.

 

Looking for more options to events in your community? We've got the tile for you.

Our customizable Event Tile allows you to display current and upcoming events on the both the community homepage or landing page. It's configurable to show filters by event categories and tags, as well as organize multiple tabbed pages of events coming from one or more places.

 

We launched our GDPR extension product for Jive and Khoros JX in 2018 when the GDPR legislation first came into effect. This product was designed to ensure that as Jive community administrators you can easily respond to any data requests from your community members.

 

Protecting the privacy of your community members is a growing concern for many community managers and administrators. Adhering to privacy policies and laws is top of mind now more than ever.  For instance, The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) is data privacy legislation which creates new consumer rights relating to the access to, deletion of, and sharing of personal information that is collected by businesses (source, & more on CCPA). CCPA went into effect on January 1, 2020. 

 

In response to this new policy, as well as a growing awareness of our data and privacy in online communities, we have re-branded our GDPR Product to the Data Privacy Pack (DPP).

 

 

 

DPP allows Jive community administrators to manage and respond quickly to any data concerns or requests, DPP also gives your community members the ability to the ability to request, anonymize, or withdraw consent to their personal data. DPP was built observing the Privacy-by-Design concept, and will ensure your Jive instance is ready to meet the regulations and simplify the ongoing management of compliance including:

  • The right to be forgotten
  • The right to consent and withdraw consent
  • The right to access your data
  • Data portability

 

Once purchased, DPP is simply installed as an Add-On to your Jive instance, and its features include:

  • Self Service User Data Retrieval, which gives your community members the ability to extract, anonymize, or delete their data.

We are very excited to announce that we have been working on a new product, our Slack Integration for Jive, which will enable you to now have the ability to connect any Jive space or group to a Slack channel in a workplace!

 

Our Slack Integration for Jive focuses on three key features: Share, Sync, and Search

 

Share Jive Content in Slack and Reply Back

You've asked a question in Jive but you're not getting the answer you need. You want to share the question in Slack because you know there are users there that will help you. Once you get the answer in Slack, you can then share that reply back to Jive.

 

Sync Content in a Jive Place with a Slack Channel

You have a Jive place that is the home for important communications - Corp Comm, IT News, CEO blogs, etc. You want content that is created in this place to automatically sync to a Jive channel, so that users will be notified in Slack where they are doing their day to day work.

 

Search Jive without leaving Slack

Users in Slack tend to work in Slack for most of the day. When they want to reference Jive content, instead of having to leave Slack to go search Jive content, they can search right from Slack.

 

Additional Features

  • This integration syncs with just one Slack workspace, but can be connected to multiple Slack channels within that workspace.
  • We hard-code the URL for your Slack workspace into the product.
  • It is compatible with Cloud and Hosted/On Premise versions of Jive.

Once we have finalized development and launched the tile, we plan on making it available to purchase a la carte via our store or by SOW. We also want to add the Event Tile to our Tile Pack without having to raise the cost of the Tile Pack for our customers. In order to do so, we are implementing this "12 for 12" campaign, where we will add product #12 to the Tile Pack once we have reached 12 new tile pack customers. Everyone has heard the old proverb "you can't have your cake and eat it too." Once you've had your cake, it's gone and you're on the hook to buy or make another. However, in the world of product pricing, we've found a way to provide our customers with more tiles (cake) while keeping the cost down (so you don't have to spend more for another).

 

Backstory

Several years ago, we started building Jive widgets (now tiles) for our Jive customers. A custom tile could be reasonably priced between $15-25K depending on the depth and complexity of its functionality. As we built more of these add-on products, we decided to offer them as a package. When we launched this package, for the price of just one product ($25K) you could receive all 7 of our most popular tiles at that time. We would charge that price annually providing upgrade safe support and innovation. The concept was right, but the cost and value ratio was not.

 

Tiles for all

We are fortunate to have worked with over 500 diverse clients, many of whom are in the small to medium-size market. In order for clients of all sizes to gain the benefits from our products, we made two pricing changes about two years ago. We dropped our a la carte pricing down to the $3-5K a year range per tile and also reduced our package price down to $10K/year. Today, over 100 Jive customers own one or more of our tiles.

 

Today, you can receive 11 of our tiles for that $10k/yr with the upgrade safe support and innovation included.

 

We want more products!

A few months ago, we inventoried all of our custom Jive project work and found over a dozen tiles, integrations, and other products. We will share those on our website and AureaWorks with a la carte pricing soon.

 

Product positioning dilemma

Why would we present all of these new products but not add them to the Tile Pack? The issue is that to support adding new products to the package, we would have to increase the cost or have more new clients purchase the tile package. We do not want to increase the price!

 

So we're offering all of the new products with a la carte pricing. Additionally, we will add one of them to the tile package — product number 12.  You can help choose what that will be by voting in this poll. However, we won't add it until we receive 12 additional tile package customers. Learn more about our "12 for 12" program here.

 

By doing this, we will have the client base to support 12 products in the package but do not need to increase the cost of the package. It will still cost the same $10K/year. If this works well, we could look to add additional products using the same approach. We expect our clients will respond favorably to receiving additional products at no additional cost.

We think this will result in a win for everyone involved. It will allow your costs to remain stable while still increasing the value of new products and innovations. Maybe not as tasty as cake, but it will be the next best thing.

We've recently updated our Accordion & Blog Tiles.  The Accordion Tile, which was included as part of our CMAD 2019 promo has just been enhanced based on our customer feedback for the 2.0 release!

Accordion 2.0 Updates & Enhancements

We have made a few updates to the settings of Accordion so you have more control over the display of the tile, allowing you to have more control on the design on this versatile tile.

 

Customize the band height setting.

  • Admins can now set the height of the band height in the tile, this allows you to set a height that better matches the font size and overall look and feel of the tile.  Check out the examples below:

Header Padding adjustments.

  • We have also adjusted the settings so that there is no longer additional padding if your header items do not have an icon. The copy will now shift to the left if you have no icons selected.

 

 

Before: Padding was forced on Header with no icon.

Updated: Header now is pushed left to line up with other headers.

 

There's more!!

A few other enhancements to note:

 

  • Google Analytics Tracking - Administrators can add Google Analytics tracking to get advanced insight into interaction with the tile. The new analytics configuration supports either Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager.
  • Custom HTML/CSS section above and below tile - Previously, HTML/CSS could only be added above the tile. Now, there is an additional  configuration to add content below the results.
  • Icon Preview - Font Awesome icons are now displayed in a preview, so you can view before you publish.

We recently made updates to two of our most popular tiles: Search & Mosaic. The post below highlights some of the new feature enhancements.

Search & Mosaic updates

Both Search and Mosaic have the following enhancements in this release:

 

Custom HTML/CSS can now be added below the tiles.

While the ability to add HTML headers has always been available, you now have the flexibility to add custom HTML beneath the tiles as well. This gives admins more room to add introductory messages, calls to action and other information above and below the tile. This extra room for HTML is especially useful on the Jive News/Homepage where you are limited to how many tiles you can use in the top hero sections.

Google Analytics Tracking. 

Administrators can add Google Analytics tracking to get advanced insight into interaction with the tile. The new analytics configuration supports either Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager. We have been rolling this out on most of our tiles, so we are pleased to now have this functionality available on Mosaic.

 

Search 2.0 Highlights

The Search tile also has some enhancements that we are excited about - check out a few of the major ones below.

 

New Configuration option to add a CTA to "Post a Question"

To make the Search tile even easier to configure, we have created a configuration option to allow admins to quickly and easily add in a button to post a new question at the bottom of the results.  You no longer need to add HTML to achieve this!

 

New Footer Configuration Options

 

Additional search results panels.

We've increased the number of results panels from three to ten.  Admins can now add more results panels to help users find the right results.

Places & People are now included in the results.

You can now configure the tile to search for People and Places in addition to the content results. In the configuration panel, you can choose to display all three (Content, People & Places) or select which one(s) you prefer.

  • Structured outcomes are optionally visible in results
  • Configuration option added to open results in a new window
  • Configuration option updated to allow admins to configure the width of the input box

On Wednesday, June 19th Social Edge hosted our first Customer Panel on how to build better use cases in your online community. We were lucky to have panelists Dina Vekaria-Patel and Dori Gray, Community Managers at Pearson and Medidata respectively, present their community management tips and tricks and use case best practices. Attendees were also able to see live demos of both Dina and Dori's communities, Pearson's Neo and Medidata Express.

 

 

Attendance was great and our attendees were engaged throughout the session. At the end of the presentations we had time for an open floor discussion and Dina and Dori were able to answer questions that were coming in throughout the session from attendees. We even ended up extending the panel another fifteen minutes to make sure everyone had a chance to ask their questions and have them answered!

 

 

Some highlights from our panelists included:

 

 

Dina Vekaria presenting Pearson Neo

  • Dina presented a content calendar she uses to plan out content in advance to ensure that information and news in the community is fresh and up to date.

 

  • Dina also talked about repurposing content - one example she shared was how she took Pearson's PDF newsletter and transformed it into a Jive document in the community so it's easy for employees to find and access it internally.

  • During Dina's live demo of Neo, she shared a variety of different examples that show how she's continuing to innovate in her internal community, including Welcome to Pearson, the Pearson Innovation Hub, and the Pearson Global Advocates Hub.

 

Dori Gray presenting Medidata Express

  • Dori shared her tips on consistency in the community. At Medidata, all of the App Support spaces have the seem look and feel so it's easy for employees to go from place to place and know exactly where they can find what they need without having to dig around for it.

 

  • Dori also presented Medidata's Event Hub - a one-stop shop that houses all of the official corporate events happening at Medidata, making it easy for employees to be able to go there and see what's happening that week, month, etc.

 

  • Another initiative for Dori at Medidata was to end all of those never-ending "reply all" emails. Working with her community intern, they were able to implement departmental collaboration groups for employees to use instead of continuing to communicate via email.
