FAQ: Unsupported Community Plugins in Jive 7

Version 1
    QuestionAnswer
What exactly changed with regard to plugins? As we continue to build out core functionality, we are reevaluating the existing unsupported plugins. We are changing the way these are handled, no longer publishing them as plugins and instead we are happy to work with you to evaluate how similar capability might be reproduced through add-ons as part of your upgrade. In some cases we are considering the plugins for productization. These are currently under review. Anyone who is using these plugins today should contact their Account Manager and it will be assessed as part of your migration and upgrade process. Again, in the meantime the product team is assessing which of these capabilities could be productized and officially supported in the future.
What's an Add-On? Add-Ons, new in Jive7, are an easy way for you to manage and extend your Jive platform with capabilities that are supported by Jive.
Which Plugins are we talking about? Admin Essentials, Bulk Upload, QuickLinks, QuickTemplates, Managed Snippets, Ghostblog, Doc Locking
What happens to my un-supported plugin when I upgrade to Jive 7?

Existing customers who use these capabilities in Jive 6 Custom (or earlier) will have them addressed actively as part of their standard upgrade planning process with PS & Account Management. If you have any questions, please contact your Account Manager.

What is going to happen to: Admin Essentials, Bulk Upload, QuickLinks, QuickTemplates, Managed Snippets, Ghostblog, Doc Locking?

The Products team is assessing each of these Plugins for the best path to bring forward -- either as an add-on or as part of the core product. Some additional apps may be offered as a paid-PS extension via add-on. These will be evaluated as part of the roadmap in 2014, and we'll share more as plans solidify.
