    Coursera is looking for an experienced community builder to help develop a vibrant and engaged learner community. This person will be responsible for creating and managing platforms, programs, and strategy for our global learner community to 1) facilitate learners’ teaching, grading, and support of one another, 2) increase learners’ engagement with Coursera and with one another 3) improve learners’ educational experience and outcomes. Building an engaged community in which students can learn from one another is critical to achieving our mission of providing the best online education. You will lead the charge.


    You will act as a liaison between the learner community and our Product, Engineering, and Marketing teams. Drawing from your expertise working with large, distributed communities, you will be responsible for strategizing and implementing scalable and engaging community programming. You will be a natural leader and fantastic communicator, with the ability to navigate the high-octane ambiguity of a startup environment. We are looking for a proven operator, with strong analytical, interpersonal, and creative instincts.

    Your diverse responsibilities will include the following:


        Develop and implement a strategic plan to grow, engage, and foster the Coursera learner community

        Launch onboarding and engagement programming to ensure learners are able to successfully support and mentor one another

        Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute and manage programs, resources, and outreach channels

        Communicate and prioritize product needs to Product, Design, and Engineering teams

        Create email campaigns and webinars to drive engagement within the learner community


    Ideal candidates will have:


        5+ years community building experience, ideally in a fast-paced growth environment

        A passion for our mission, and achieving ambitious goals to bring high-quality content to learners around the world

        Exceptional analytical, strategic, and problem-solving skills

        Excellent written and verbal communication skills; a cross-functional team leader

        Level-headed temperament; ability to make quick judgments and defend decisions

        Incredible perseverance and drive, manifested in a strong work ethic and a willingness to roll up your sleeves and do whatever needs to be done

        The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment and to radiate positivity even while under pressure
