    Impact Metrics FAQ

Why can't I make Impact Metrics public for this piece of content?

The option to "Make these Impact Metrics public" is only available on content that is not already available to be openly edited by all users. If all users can already edit a document then there will be no option to make the impact metrics public. You will not see the pencil icon in this scenario.

For example, A document published to an Open Social Group where all members can currently edit that document will not have the option to make the impact metrics public because they are already visible to all users.

Why can't I see Impact Metrics

There can be a variety of reasons for why a user may not see Impact Metrics on a piece of content.  The most common are:

Common Reason 1: Impact metrics are only available to the users who can already edit the content

Impact metrics are only available to users who either are allowed to edit the content or the author has explicitly made the impact metrics publicly visible on that piece of content.

Common Reason 2: Impact Metrics for Discussions and Videos are only available for Jive Cloud sites and Jive Hosted and On-Premise sites that are using Cloud Analytics.

If you are not seeing impact metrics on discussions or videos then you will need to first verify with your community admin whether or not you have Cloud Analytics enabled. Having Cloud Analytics enabled will add additional features to impact metrics on your site.

    • Discussion Impact Metrics are only available in Jive 7+ and Jive Cloud using Cloud Analytics
    • Video Impact Metrics are only available in Jive 8+ and Jive Cloud using Cloud Analytics

Cloud Analytics is enabled automatically for all Jive Cloud sites.

If you have a Jive hosted or on-premise site then you can follow the instructions at Requesting access to Jive Cloud Analytics | Jive Community  to request having Cloud Analytics enabled for your site.

Common Reason 3: If viewing a Blog Post, only the Author can see the impact metrics and

Unlike documents, where anyone who can edit the document can see the impact metrics, with blog posts only the original author can see the impact metrics. This also means that the author is the only user who can set the impact metrics to public.

Common Reason 4: Impact metrics are not available on content created before the feature was introduced if you're not using Cloud Analytics

If you're not using Cloud Analytics then Impact metrics functionality is only available on pieces of content that were created after impact metrics was enabled.

If you are using Cloud Analytics then Impact Metrics will be available for content created prior to the feature being introduced.

Can Impact Metrics be included on old content created before the feature was added to Jive?

If you are using Cloud Analytics then  you should see Impact Metrics available for your older content.

If you are only using an Analytics Database, and you do not have Cloud Analytics enabled for your site, then you will only have Impact Metrics available on content that was created after impact metrics was enabled. If you later decide to enable Cloud Analytics then there will be a historical replay process ran that will add Impact Metrics to your old content. See Requesting access to Jive Cloud Analytics | Jive Community to request having Cloud Analytics enabled for your site.
