Quick Tips for creating (SEO) Search Engine Optimized Content in Jive-x

    Jive-x has quite a few product features and functionality that make it great for SEO (search engine optimization).  Many of these items are dynamic and based on the content, but a few you can control or teach people who to leverage in a better way, to grow your jive-x community search engine optimization.


    Places: Space, group and project configuration

      • Name / URL
        • Make sure the Names of your places have information that is good for users as well as search engines. Places named 'generic' like "products" does not help search engines.
          • Example Name: Jive-x for Support Communities
          • Example URL : jive-x-for-support-communities
        • Note: only spaces can have their URL changed after initial creation.
      • Description
        • Make sure the descriptions for any place created is filled in.  The first 160 characters or so will be placed into the metadata of the page for search engines to index.
        • So if you have something like "Ask questions in this place." instead you should consider the following
        • "Stay up to date with the latest jive product information and resources around jive software community products.  Jive-x for support communities, marketing engagement and partner collaboration.  Jive-n for intranet replacement software, employee support and employee engagement.  Additional jive products: Ideation, Videos, Gamification, Social events, surveys."
      • Tags
        • Tags will become metadata on the page, so they help as well.  Be sure to add tags!
        • Create tags for all variations of our products, as well as the use cases.
        • Example: jive, jive-x,jivex,customer service, customer support, knowledgebase software

     

    Content

      • Title
        • When creating content it should not be generic 'Updates'  it should instead include keywords like the company name, product names, problem solved, target customer and other words that are key to your business.
      • First 160 characters of content
        • The first 160 or so characters of content are also going to help your search engine optimization .  So always be sure to use a simple intro 'statement' for any piece of content!
      • Tags
        • Tags will become metadata on the page, so they help.
        • Create tags for all variations of our products, as well as the use cases.
        • Example: jive, jive-x,jivex,customer service, customer support, knowledgebase software
