Jive 8 On-premise Installation Checklist

    Complete this checklist to help ensure that your new Jive installation is set up correctly. Also see Jive Help > Installing Jive.

    1Select hosts

    Bare metal or virtual machines?

    Determine resource requirement.

    2Select storage

    EAE and Search nodes require fast local storage. The tool provided here, Testing Disk Access Speed - JIRA Knowledge Base - Atlassian Documentation, can be used to assess disk speeds.

    Webapp nodes must have shared storage for binary content.

    3Select operating system

    Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 & 6 for x86_64 or SUSE 11 for x86_64: Jive Help > System Requirements

    • Default encoding must be UTF-8
    4Set sysctl configuration

    /etc/sysctl.conf:

    net.core.rmem_max = 16777216

    net.core.wmem_max = 16777216

    net.ipv4.tcp_wmem = 4096 65536 16777216

    net.ipv4.tcp_rmem = 4096 87380 16777216

    kernel.shmmax = 2147483648

     

    vm.max_map_count = 500000 # If total memory > 4GB then, (<total memory in GB> * 1024 * 1024 / 1000 / 1000 - 4) * 250,000 + 500,000

    5Set file limits

    /etc/security/limits.conf:

    jive    soft    nofile  100000 # 500000 on EAE nodes

    jive    hard    nofile  200000 # 500000 on EAE nodes

     

    /etc/pam.d/login:

    session required /lib64/security/pam_limits.so

    6Select database drivers

    PostgreSQL

    • Version 9.4 is included

    Oracle

    SQL Server

    MySQL

    7Enable node affinity

    Configure cookie-based node affinity on your load balancer. See our documentation for further details on,
