Version 2

Have you ever been curious about who deleted a Space or Group? What about a Blogpost that was there on Friday but gone on Monday? Jive's Analytics Data Export Service (DES) provides a quick and easy way to identify when when things may have been deleted, as well as who did the deletion.

Make sure you can first access the DES by following the instruction noted under the section: How Do I Get Access to the DES? Once you have access you can log into the DES at: https://api.jivesoftware.com/analytics/explorer

Referencing the DES Documentation section List of All Data Export Events you can see a complete list of what types of DELETE actions are tracked.

Example of how to use Data Export Service to find who deleted a space

Example: Finding who deleted a space in the community.

    1. Go to the Data Export Service UI at https://api.jivesoftware.com/analytics/explorer
    2. Enter your Client ID and Client Secret
    3. Click on "Login"
      • API+Explorer+2016-09-12+09-28-48.png
    4. Increase your Activities date range to a period of time that includes when the Space (aka Community) was deleted
    5. Under Activities filters, select the Action filter
    6. In the text box, enter ACTIVITY_DELETE_COMMUNITY (COMMUNITY is for a Space)
      • See above for a complete list of available actions you can track
      • e.g. ACTIVITY_DELETE_BLOGPOST, ACTIVITY_DELETE_SOCIALGROUP, ACTIVITY_DELETE_DOCUMENT, etc.
    7. Click on "Preview Data"

This should get you the following results:

Depending on Date and Event type you might see many results. You can add additional filters to narrow down the data returned in the Preview field. Just be aware that the "Preview Data" button restricts itself to only 10 results. So if you have more than 10 results, you'll need to click the "Download Activity CSV" button and review the complete results in a CSV file. The CVS export contains the complete details of record with many additional columns not displayed in the UI Preview.

In this example we can see the exact time and user who deleted a particular space.

If you experience any issues using the Data Export Service please create a new case with Jive Support to investigate the problem.
