    There are multiple ways to move a blog post that has been staged, and each has different ramifications so may be used for different purposes.

     

    Use the Actions > Move option

    When to use: Use this option if you are moving an old blog post to a new space. You mot likely want to keep the posts date intact as the content hasn't changed, but is being kept for reference purposes.

     

    StepsRamifications
    • Click Actions on the right
    • Choose Move option
    • Select new location
    • Decide whether to mark Show location change in streams
      • This is important to consider, as typically you won't want people to be notified

    • Click Yes - move it here button
    • Date in post URL doesn't change
    • Date listed as when blog is posted doesn't change
    • Modification date at the bottom of the blog shows date moved

     

    Use the Edit option

    When to use: Use this option when you are staging a blog post in advance (i.e. in a staging space) and you want the date it is moved to be the date that shows as the post date.

     

    StepsRamifications
    • Click Edit
    • Change publish location
    • Mark Show location change in streams
      • Unless you have a reason you don't want notifications to be sent, this should ALWAYS be marked!!

    • Click Update
    • Date in post URL reflects date of move
    • Date listed as when blog is posted reflects date of move
    • Modification date at the bottom of the blog shows date moved
