    Background

    This document defines the testing procedures (test script) to be undertaken to evaluate any upgrade or significant technology change for (insert community name)i.

    Select the text on this page, copy it and paste it into a new document in (insert a link to where people should post)

    Documentation of Test Results

    Each tester needs to copy this page and use it to create a new document in this space (insert where you want to keep these). Change the title of the document to your name and the test date. Then record your test results directly in the new document. Also copy the tags from this document into your new document. Then you can delete everything from this line up from your test results page.

    List all browser plugins installed:

     

    Go to (insert the URL of where they should be testing) and log in. (Please take note of which site you are testing, UAT or production, and adjust the URLs in this document appropriately. The UAT site is xxx.com.)

    Main login page

    Review the display on the All Content tab. Does everything look correct (i.e. no empty or messed up widgets)?


    Check the widgets and make sure that nothing shows "null" or other error messages

    (Caveat Today's Top 10 shows only content from current day, so verify current content.)




    Any icons look odd (i.e. double asterisk next to the Announcements)?


    Pick Your Blogs widgets look OK?


    Find People widget looks OK?


    Review the display on the Your View tab. Does everything look correct?


    Check the widgets and make sure that nothing shows "null" or other error messages

    (Caveat - Popular widgets show items only from past 7 days, so verify recent content.)




    Edit Your View


    Add one of the new widgets (assuming there are any)


     

    Custom Themes

    Visit each of the following home pages and determine if the logos and page headers look correct (i.e. do the logos match what they did prior to the upgrade).

    Profile

    Review profile page. Does it look right? Do you see what you expect? (please note: Recent activity format has purposely changed)


    Edit a profile field


    Change photo


    Add a second photo


    Change your primary photo


    Change avatar


    Add another avatar


    Does your second photo show up on your profile page under your primary photo?


    Follow a friend


    Unfollow


    Click Your Stuff > Groups  (do you see what you expect?)


    Click Your Stuff > Documents (do you see what you expect?)


    Click Connections tab (do you see what you expect?)


    On the Connections page, send an email (make sure the user's email address is enabled, and that they receive it before marking pass/fail)


    Click Notifications tab


    Remove one of the Notifications from your list (if you don't have any, have someone send you an invitation)


    Download your vcard


    Manage your email notifications (delete one or multiple)


    Manage your email notifications (check filter for results)


    Create a blog post


    Delete a blog post


    Create a document in Your Documents, that just you can see


    Try to email the document to someone (this should fail or not be visible to user)


    Create a second document; share with another test user - can they see it?


    Try to email this document to that user (this should NOT fail)


    Edit one of your two documents and make it open - can others see it?


     

    Groups

    Create Group that is named using convention <Your Name> Test Group


    Is there an option to include or exclude Projects in your group?


    Go back and change your group details to change your group type (did it work? If secret, have someone else check to see if they can see it in the directory or not)


    Customize the Group overview for the group you created above page with widgets


    Make sure you add the Categories widget (to be used in later testing)


    Save new layout


    Locate members for group to invite to your group - does the picker work?


    Add 5+ members to the group (make sure you have at least one active email to work with in UAT)


    Go to Manage Group Members


    On the Open Invitations page, delete one invitation


    Once one of your invitations accepts, use Manage Group Members to change their status (or do this from another UAT group)


    Create a group blog post


    Add a discussion


    Add a Document


    Check that group overview page shows activity


    Create 2 new categories (click Manage Categories | Add new category), marking the "suggest" checkbox


    Create another document. When you tag, use a tag in one of your categories. does the system make a category suggestion?


    Mark the checkbox for a category that doesn't contain tags in that category


    On the homepage of your group, does the document count of the categories look correct?


    Can you click through to the filtered category groups?


    On a discussions, document or blog page, expand the Filter by category and tags menu


    Select a category and see if the filter works


    Send an email with the Send email to group function. Did your working email address receive their copy?


    Edit a category (Manage Categories | edit link next to existing category)


    Delete a category


    Join a Group that already exists


    Check Members and make sure you show up (after joining)


    Click on "home" in your breadcrumbs or go back to home some other way


     

    Spaces

    Go to (insert the name of a space you want to use for testing)

    Inspect the Overview page


    Try navigating through the new Spaces widget (click arrows to go deeper into the space structure)


    Filter the results in the new Spaces widget


    Check the All Content tab


    Check the Discussions tab


    Expand the Filter by Categories & Tags


    Click a Category to filter results


    Click a Tag to filter results


    Remove the filters


    Check the Documents tab


    Check the Blog tab


    On the All Contents tab, click on the Directory and Index Pages tag group. Are any items displayed more than once in the list?

    Projects

    Continue from above space.

    Add a task


    Add a document


    In the Recent Content widget, expand the Filters menu


    Filter on one of the categories (does the content set change?)


    Filter on one of the tags (does the content set change?)


    Go to the Documents page and expand the Filters menu


    Create a new Project in the space


    Add two tasks - one due tomorrow, one due next week.


    Do they show up properly on the calendar?


    Create two checkpoints - one due tomorrow, one due after the end of the project. Does second one error out? Reset end date to last day of project.


    Do they show up properly on the calendar?


    Edit one of the tasks. Save. Does everything look right (i.e. no dates changed, all your text properly formatted)?


    In your Test Group from above, create a Project


    Does your test project show up on the home page of your group (Projects widget)?


    Editing and Creating Functionality

    Go to (insert the name of a place or content to use for testing purposes)

    Go to New - Document - Write a New Document and select Testbed as the location.

    Title your document with your name and the date. Enter some test text in the body and publish it. Did it publish correctly?




    On the document you just created, upload a file from your computer as a file attachment and publish the document. Did the file attachment upload as expected?


    Can you open it?


    Go to New - Document - Upload a File and select Testbed as the location.


    Do all the buttons in the rich text editor respond as expected? (Note: with the Upload a File option, there are far fewer buttons presented.)


    Enter some test text in the body and publish it. Did it publish correctly?




    Did the file attachment upload as expected?


    Is the icon indicating the correct filetype?


    Can you open it?


    Go to this document: (insert the name of a test document). Add a comment to the document.


    Do all the buttons in the rich text editor respond as expected? (Note: with comments, there are far fewer buttons presented.)


    Open the PowerPoint attachment on the page. Open ok? Save ok?




    Open the PDF attachment on the page. Open ok? Save ok?

    Open the Excel attachment on the page. Open ok? Save ok?


    Open the Word attachment on the page. Open ok? Save ok?


    Create a blog post

    Save your blog post, then add a comment.

    File Display for Attachments

    Do each of the files below display on the page in a viewer? (i.e. not a browser plug-in viewer, but an on-page already loaded viewer). Please note: Pages may take longer to view the first time (i.e. not these pages, but other pages with attachments) as they need to load into the viewer cache the first time. After that, speed should not be impacted.

    In the search bar (upper right corner of any page), enter "testbed" and wait for results to appear.


    Did the Testbed space appear in the results under Places? If not, click on the magnifying glass to go to the full search results. Is it there?
