Many systems allow spaces in usernames, so when integrating other systems with hundreds of thousands of users that have spaces in their name usernames, it becomes an overwhelming task when needing to import these users into Jive and account for all the username collisions, since after the removal of the spaces there are many duplicates, such as jbooth existing on Jive, and a separate user named j booth on a different system. Importing j booth into Jive would fail due to violation of the unique constraint on usernames. Of course, replacing the spaces with an underscore is one option, but it is still enforcing alteration of user's personal data without consent. It would be ideal if there was an option to enable or disable the feature of removing spaces from usernames.
