Situation and problem:
In Jive SBS it is not possible to have two users with the same eMail-adress. We would need to have it configurable (duplicate eMail-adress check = on/off).
From a business point of view there is an long list of reasons against unique eMail adresses:
- ... people in factories for instance need a Jive user to obtain information, but they do not have an eMail adress (they have one consolidated eMail adress maintained by a manager, they do not even have a own pc),
- ... in our organisation there are people who work for two point of sales: For permission definition these people need two users, still they only have one eMail account.
- ... people with different roles (the real "Andreas Weber" with firstname.lastname@example.org and the "Community Manager Andreas Weber" with email@example.com
- ... sometimes power users need a second user to check, the view of other users (=> still, same eMail adress), or to check a symptom on the platform
On public forums, it makes sense to avoid duplicate users, in a business environment not: In these areas the user id is normally the unique key.
There are technical reasons against duplicate eMail adress, also, but there are workarounds:

Point taken, but I am sure there is a workaround like tokens in the subject or disabling the functionality if duplicate adresses exists.

I am sure, that people not eMail adresses are looped to send messages.
In pre-4.5.7 times it was possible to manage users with duplicate adresses (still not create).
