We asked the same question and were told that it is a big mistake to stage conversations. That being said writing a blog or better yet official documents/FAQs to share information are encouraged. It is also ok to initiate conversations with your customers as long as it does not turn into you asking and answering your own questions without the customers being in the middle of it all. I'm not sure if this is exactly what you were asking, but hopefully it helps some.
