    What's the appropriate level of service provider initiated discussions in customer service groups?

      We're discussing what is the appropriate level of  service provider initiated discussions in customer support groups before the customer begins classifying the communication as spam. I was wondering if anyone has any experience, thoughts or ideas on this or can point me to anything that may help us find the right balance to meet everyone's needs.
