Re: Jive for delivery of internal training/certification?
sanjivkvarma May 25, 2011 2:54 PM (in response to jimjonesWRS), new hires have to face a certification right away...or you want a small test to check they have got the new hire stuff down ? Based on the use case you will need different process / tools to create it. Certs are legal, need more analysis, publish, hosting etc. A small internal test can be built (faster / easier) and hosted internally. We have done these but end up using help from our training team and hosting it in our Learning Management System. You may check with them in your org., if possible. Regards /Sanjiv

Re: Jive for delivery of internal training/certification?
jimjonesWRS May 25, 2011 6:17 PM (in response to sanjivkvarma)I should have clarified – “certification” really meant “have them take a small test to make sure they understood the content.”
Put a different way – we want the employee to watch a video on (as an example) insider trading, and then take a 10-question test to show that they’ve understood the material.
We could host it on an LMS – but part of the potential business case for Jive is to deprecate (among other things) an LMS.

Re: Jive for delivery of internal training/certification?
sanjivkvarma May 25, 2011 7:34 PM (in response to jimjonesWRS)Hi Jim,
We have used Camtasia to develop small video trainings and it has inbuilt quiz functionality but there is no reporting option there unless we track completion via a LMS. So we still use the LMS where we need reporting, scores etc.. I will also look to learn if anyone else has used Jive as a LMS. It will be interesting for instructor led/class room courses.
Thanks
Sanjiv

ablair May 26, 2011 7:11 AM (in response to jimjonesWRS)I haven't been able to test yet but I was thinking that you could house all the matrial in Jive, use a link through to your LMS to actually take the quiz so you could have the tracking & reporting. To my knowledge, this would be the only way. We are heading down the same path so I would be curious to hear if you find a way to do this.

Re: Jive for delivery of internal training/certification?
bjewell May 27, 2011 1:43 PM (in response to ablair)We're taking a similar approach. There is just too much functionality around learning records/evaluation and tracking/reporting in a LMS to replace it with Jive at this point.

sbrown Jun 2, 2011 6:58 AM (in response to jimjonesWRS)We are looking to do something very similar and are looking at the Poll feature in Jive, but currently struggling on how to extrapolate the "who took the test and how they answered" information.
