Re: Videos and Mobile
brian.gil Jun 15, 2012 11:39 AM (in response to kkness)The Video module is currently being updated for Jive 6. As part of that effort it will support playback on devices which can not use the Flash player, namely iOS. Therefore the Jive mobile web apps for iPhone and iPad, the native iPhone app, and the full Jive UI on an iPad will all be supported by Jive Video.
Please note that any videos hosted externally to Jive, including private Vimeo channels and YouTube video, can be played in Jive Mobile today. It is the security model of Jive Video which prevents them from working until the Jive 6 upgrade is completed.

djthompson Jun 15, 2012 1:41 PM (in response to brian.gil)Hi brian,
I am girding this will not include the flash document viewer?
Is there any roadmap to replayse the flash doc view so you can preview docs on when viewing the main UI on an iPad?
Tks

thebryceswrite Apr 23, 2013 10:03 AM (in response to brian.gil)Brian, I noticed your annoucements for the Jive iPad app today, and it made me think of this question. Not to mention the 5 requests I got from business partners today asking when our environment will support video playback via iPads?
Any updates on a non-flash version of the Jive / Twistage video module?
Thanks!

Re: Videos and Mobile
thebryceswrite Apr 30, 2013 9:57 AM (in response to thebryceswrite)Ha...disregard my question. A light bulb went off that I could just try to test playing video from my iPad in this community and it worked! So it appears for Safari browser access and video playback, it will work on iOS devices. But likely not for the app-based mobile solutions at this point based on what I am reading elsewhere. Sorry I didn't think to verify that way before
.
Which brings up another question...if upgrading from Jive 5 to Jive 6...do previously uploaded videos that were Flash-based work on the iPad following the upgrade? Meaning, are they migrated / re-formatted in some way during the upgrade? Are they left behind? Or does it just work?
Thanks again!
