The code here is to change group of the content. Similarly you can change creator.
In REST apis context, you will have to get the content, change the owner and send the entire content to update using following api
Thanks for the reply. Which field would suggest to change? Looking at the documentation of the REST APIs it appears that Author is the one but it is Read Only.
Author of this content object.
No you cannot. Changing the Creator is not supported via the API.
Just checked my code again.
There is this other field call authors which is present on a content when content ownership is shared by few other peoples in addition to the actual owner.
And this is editable.
Thats the one I have updated in my code.
Actually you can still do one thing, if you have to change the creator.
Jive recently added a concept of back-dating while updating / creating a content.
So you can use data of an existing content, change the creator in the data and then create it as a new document with an older date.
Pawan, that may work but not before you would lose some functionality. I mean what about the various versions of the old document, you will lose them unless you take the pain of doing this for every version, right? Also, one would also lose the various comments (if they exists) on the old document unless they are carried over.
You are right Anup.
Thats why I said "if you have to change creator" in any case.
None of the versions and comments will be carried over. You have to put that extra effort to move them.
If its few contents with lesser comments, then it might work.
But yeah, if its too many docs, this is not going to help.
It might result into some data loss.
One situation we ended up trying this was where we might have to migrate a content with comments into another system or another jive system.
In that case this becomes the only critical way to move things.
Ryan Rutan - According to this document Author Change Add-On FAQ there is now a way to do it with out-of-the-box REST APIs. I've tried a couple of combinations but haven't found the one to make it work, nor does the API documentation list the right method/service to call to update the author.
Do you have any information on this? Does this custom Add-On rely on Jive installed Plugin to extend the base APIs?
