Recently, my (non-tech) friends and I have been having meaningful and productive discussions on a project that we are working on through an app called Beluga on our iPhones and Droids. It's not a new concept (it's basically group text messaging), but it's a nice, clean Twitter-esque format. It also has a sweet, optional map feauture on it as well.
Maybe something like this is already in the works for the next Jive mobile version, but I thought I throw it out there anyway. If my non-techy friends are loving it, I think it has a real chance to catch on and expect it to be a big hit at SXSWi this year (along with Hashable).
Path is another similar service.
These screen shots are from a pod called 'Dude'. This example's a bit more social, but you see how it can be used in a professional manner.
