Very much sounds like the language that Ted uses. This is his session:

Advanced Measurement:
Measuring and Acting on Employee Community Data-

Yeah I went to the session and got a TON out of it, so it was great. But the specific one that I'm talking about was during the breakout exercise that we had with a group of other session attendees, so I'm not sure it was captured in the session video. But I think the person I was looking for has been identified, thanks to the power of Jive

Was it? I knew he was leading the session along with Brice, but I wasn't sure that it was him who had this specific report. Then again, so much from that week blends together that it's entirely possible. If this is the case, thank you both.
Ted Hopton - if you're the guy I'm thinking about, do you recall what I'm referring to, and would it be possible to get more insight from you regarding this?
Thanks!

Ted Hopton is just wrapping up a business trip to China this week, heading for a week of vacation, followed by E2.0 conference in Santa Clara. I'm not sure how soon he'll be able to respond. But he does have information from his talk posted here: Actionable Analytics for Understanding Community Member Behavior

Re: JW11 Session - Info about measuring user maturity/capability levels
bjewell Nov 8, 2011 7:52 PM (in response to mavital)Sounds like you found the right person, but Ted's approach is very similar. He looks at the whole spectrum of users by activity and segments them into five buckets based on activity count. He then keeps an eye on the trends from people moving up, down, or staying in their current buckets. That's the approach we poached from him and have had in place at Cerner for a year as well. Just tracking those trends doesn't tell you anything unless you survey those folks to find out what's affecting their behaviors.
So is it safe to say Jeremy is a strong candidate for getting up on stage to talk about analytics at JW12?

May be a safe bet to say that between you, Ted and Jeremy, you’ll have trained up a whole round table session by the time Jive 12 rolls around. You’re all really inspiring for all of us who desperately want to mine insights from our analytics, but don’t have an idea where to start.

Hi Brice,
Thanks for chiming in. Yes, found the person I was referring to and am
very happy he's willing to share his knowledge. Also looking to get
perspective from anyone else who has done this, to see what works best.
For the approach you detailed below, do you know if it's done by
straight activity count? Or is it weighted in some way, where creates
count for more than contributes, as we're looking at this from a
maturity/capability perspective, not just in terms of general usage.
Does it even make sense to look at it this way?
Thanks,
Mor

jeremy54 Nov 4, 2011 10:21 AM (in response to mavital)Hi Mor,
Might have been me. In a couple of the sessions I discussed some examples of reports we use and one of them was a user segmentation by Super Creator, Creator, Commenter and Viewer, also goes a step further and breaks them down by role in the organization (Partner, Consultant, Support, etc.)
Happy to chat it about it or describe in more detail if interested.
Best,
Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,
Yes, it may very well have been you! I think even the face is familiar. I swear, I really need to be better about taking business/meme cards from people.
I would love to hear more about the whats and hows of it all, if you have the time. Maybe we can chat early next week?
Thanks much,
Mor

I got the DM but not any attachments. If you're ok with adding it to this conversation, anyone interested can get the PDF. Otherwise, would you mind emailing me at my BSC email address? It's on my profile. Thanks!

Re: JW11 Session - Info about measuring user maturity/capability levels
jeremy54 Nov 7, 2011 4:57 PM (in response to mavital)I don't see your email in your profile and was hoping to keep the report to small distribution because I have not masked any of the data and not sure I should be making it publicly available without first checking with our legal department. I'll try another DM, if the report doesn't come through, just email me at jeremy.schnorbus@oliverwyman.com

Re: JW11 Session - Info about measuring user maturity/capability levels
ashela Nov 9, 2011 11:33 AM (in response to jeremy54)We also segment by the type of collaboration that will enable the goals. If the goal of the collaboration is to innovate a product, the measurements on the cycles and behaviours are most likely different than the measurements taken from collaboration around the management of a two week tradeshow.
What we try and do is categorise our collaboration assets into a portfolio to allow us to measure like to like, establish a baseline and assess the effectiveness of collaboration overall (maturity etc). This method also allows us to better listen to company sentiment
