The OpenSearch functionality in CS 1.7 is entirely dependent on what types of search results are available. The /. URL you listed only provides HTML results, which we can't guarantee are parseable, so in this case you'd see a link on the right hand side to those results with the search terms the user has given swapped out. However, with a parseable URL (try querying your favorite blogging software, for example http://reneeanddolan.wordpress.com/feed/?s=dolan&x=0&y=0, and make sure the results are RSS or Atom) the results will be listed on the right hand side of the page, built dynamically. They currently are not run inline with the local results as we have no way of assigning relevance to outside results.
Sorry for the late response....thanks for the help...I was so used to seeing Search Tips there....that I didn't realize it when it swapped out. Also didn't help that I had a search.ftl from 1.6 that was overloaded from a plugin....and the code wasn't there. =)
Quick quesiton...any idea on how to control order of the text/html Engines? I entered them in order..but they are appear to show up in a random sort of way...sure it is index related...but before I go digging...thought I'd ask the greater community.
