          drBond,

What database are you using? Probably the easiest thing is to update the admin user entry in the database and replace your forgotten hashed password with the default one (you can find the hash in the database script or just email me directly for it). Once you've done that, you can login with the password "admin" and change your password to something else.

hey Bill!... i tried to look at the sql script that is

              included in the jive installation.

i think i already seen it.

so, you mean that i need to rerun this INSERT statement

to update or reset my admin password?... and in so

doing, i can set my desired password again?

im just confirming but it really make sense to me!

thank you very much for you prompt response.

              looking forward.

                  statement

No, you'll actually need to run an UPDATE statement. First, find out what the userID of your admin is (it should be 1 but you should check anyway):

SELECT userID from jiveUser where username='admin'

Then, use that userID to do:

UPDATE jiveUser set passwordHash='X' where userID=Y,

where X is the password hash you'll find in the sql script included with Jive and Y is your userID found by the select statement.

Because passwords are hashed in Jive, you can't update the jiveUser table with a plaintext password. The easiest thing to do is to just update the jiveUser table, then log-in to the admin tool and change your password that way.

Let me know if that works,

                  --Bill
