Not Jive but from my own experience the data stays until you get rid of it.
For us, we currently purge it rather frequently since we generate a good amount of data (15-20GB each month) and it starts to become a bit unwieldy to download and restore.
I save the archived copies of the databases and maintain an "offline" copy of all the activity data tables we use for our reporting.
By default there is no purge of data in the analytics DB -- it lasts forever. However, there are options in the admin console to set up purging. In that case, how old data has to be to get purged is configurable.
