Hey, Roy! Be sure to check out Tiffany LaBanca's and Kristen Ritter (In loving memory)'s excellent presentation they delivered as part of the Drive innovation, increase productivity, and reduce communication costs with a social intranet | Webcast hosted by Jive back in May 2012. There is a crowd-sourcing use case in particular. Also, see the "multinational financial company" use case diagram in the Use Case Glossary Sept 2012.pptx, available only in the private Jive Customers group (invitation only). It depicts how one company took ideas generated at a leadership offsite, online.
A third use case is to hold time-based idea blitzes, or jams. Imagine an Innovation space, with 3 sub-spaces, each one dedicated to a specific topic. You advertise the dates of the jam, and then everyone spends 2 or 3 days submitting, discussing, refining, and voting on ideas.
Hope this helps!
