Notification not working in lotus notes

      Hi all,

I'm trying to evalute Clearspace 1.1.1's notification system.  Everything seems to work ok if my email client is Mozilla Thunderbird.  But when I use lotus notes as the client, I get an email back saying that the body is empty :

*"An email reply you sent to http://localhost:61200/clearspace was not processed for the following reason:

The body of your message contained no text. If you need assistance or have any questions, please contact

      the system administrator at clearspace@lnx420.dteco.com."*

The logs have another message about the username not being found:

"INFO: In EmailMonitor.sendRejectionMail: Unable to find user with id: -1"

Here's the email that got sent to clearspace (minor modifications to protect the innocent) :

If someone at Jive could let me know what the application is looking for as far as mapping responses, I might be able to figure out what's going on here.

              hi Ken,

We depend on the subject string retaining that key in square brackets. So for example, if you get an email like this:

              To: ken@example.com

              From: clearspace@example.com

Subject: New message: "Re: This is a test"

              Body: whatever...

and then you click reply, email should look something like this:

              To: clearspace@example.com

              From: ken@example.com

Subject: re: New message: "Re: This is a test"

              Body: whatever...

The key part is the '[xFxPR-wg-gE]' in the example above. If that key is missing, the message won't be accepted.

              Cheers,

              AJ

Ok, so any idea why the same functional test (get notification and reply via email) would work if the mail client was Thunderbird but fail if it was lotus notes?

Both tests contained the correct key in brackets on the subject line as far as I could tell.

                    • Re: Notification not working in lotus notes

                      hi Ken,

I kind of skipped through your message quickly the first time I read it. Looks like there are a couple bugs in our email handling code when you use an email client that sends an email with content-type = text/html. First, the reason that Thunderbird works and Notes doesn't is that Thunderbird is sending the emails as plain text OR is sending the email in a multipart format with both plain text and html.  Clearspace (and Jive Forums) support text/plain, multipart/alternative, multipart/mixed and multipart/related, as long as one of the multipart versions includes a plain text part.

As you can see from the email headers in your Lotus Notes email, it only includes text/html, so we don't currently support the parsing of that email (mostly because Outlook HTML is um... nonstandard...)

I created a bug for this:

                      http://www.jivesoftware.com/issues/browse/CS-1246

because we don't give a proper error message when you reply using an email client that doesn't send one of the above mentioned content types. Should be part of 1.2.

                      Cheers,

                      AJ
