Unfortunately, there is not current functionality for creating groups that contain other groups. A group can only contain users.
That hurts. Is it on a roadmap? This feature seems easier to program than manage at a user level.
At this point, this feature is not on a roadmap for Clearspace. However, I would encourage you to make a post at http://clearspace.jivesoftware.com/community/clearspace/features concerning this feature and your desire to see it added.
Also, the source is available if you have the desire to make changes to your code to implement this.
I have the need to to this also.
- GroupA (members: UserA)
- GroupB (members: GroupA)
When i see the members of GroupB it should enumerate to GroupA,UserA
When i see the Groups of UserA it should enumerate to GroupA,GroupB
This would solve the problem for me as then anywhere security is checked from user up or group down it will enumerate all nested users/groups to build a list.
My Plan (today) is to try and locate this code and replace / override it with my own enumration that will dig down through the lists.
a) need to find the code
b) need to test i am capable of doing this
I'm currently looking in edit-user-profile.ftl at the "groups" list to see if i can track down where it comes from and update that code.
Wish me luck, i'll post a reply here if i'm successfull.
