Adding members to a group (rather than inviting)

Hopefully noone gets sick of my questions.  I have been a heavy user of IBM Connections for the past 4+ years and am now learning Jive (4.5 and 6).  Although the principles of the tools are similar, there are a large volume of differences (some good, some I'm struggling with), even just in terminology.

In trying to add members to a group, it appears that my only option is to invite them, implying that the invitees must take some action in order to actually become a member.  Is there a way to just make them a member, and avoid them from having to do something?  I want to guarantee that a given audience are members and not rely on the recipients to join upon receiving the invitation.  Is this possible?
