How to pull data from an outside db into jive profile?

      Hi,

Right now in our current Jive instance we are pulling some data from our ldap server into jive's profile.

We have one more internal custom website which has some data.

This data is stored in an oracle db.

We wanted to extend our jive profile and pull data from this db.

This will help us to get ldap data and the other profile data from this system into jive profile.

So then a user can simply search for a user in jive and get all the details.

      Is this possible?

If you host your own Jive instance, a simple way would be to create a REST web service on your custom website and then customise the profile page to add some JavaScript that queries the REST webservice with JSONP, then adds the resulting data to the profile page.

Take a look at Freemarker Mixins for referencing an external JavaScript file to the user profile.

Our jive instance is hosted by jive.

And for the internal system we have, we don't have any APIs right now since the team managing it will take a lot of time.

And also jive has a facility to create custom profile fields.

So we were thinking of creating some new custom fields, link jive to our db and then pull the data into these new fields.

Like we do for LDAP, we just connect to ldap and then map ldap fields to jive's profile fields.
