    Jive 7 installation steps

    prince

      Hi Ryan Rutan

      We are trying to install jive 7 by using the following command:

      mvn archetype:generate -e -B -DarchetypeGroupId=com.jivesoftware.maven -Darchetypeartifactid^Caven-jive-archetype -DarchetypeVersion=7.0.x-SNAPSHOT -DgroupId=com.jivesoftware.myapp -DartifactId=helloworld

      we are getting error as:

      The plugin 'org.apache.maven.plugins:maven-archetype-plugin' does not exist or no valid version could be found

      Is it enough for installing jive 7 or any other settings we need to change if any please let me know changes to be made

      Thanks,

      Prince M Jain

          Can you try the below command to create Maven Jive 7 Project:

          mvn archetype:generate -e -B -DarchetypeGroupId=com.jivesoftware.maven -DarchetypeArtifactId=maven-jive-archetype -DarchetypeVersion=7.0.x-SNAPSHOT -DgroupId=com.jivesoftware.test -DartifactId=Jive7

          Regards,

            First thing to clarify is that running this command will only get you a project in maven for development (of which there is a way to spawn a development instance of Jive for use).  But this is not the same as installing and running Jive in a real environment.

            That being said, it sounds like you've got a cached conflict.  Last time I did that, I turned on debug logs and scanned for errors, or a simpler way is to wipe your ~/.m2/repository directory contents and let Jive re-download everything fresh (takes a while), but should work to correct the problem.

            Hope that helps. =)

                could you please tell me the repositories used for  "jive.internal" and "jive.snapshots" in settings.xml

                Thanks,

                            Hi Sanjay,

                            If you access internet via proxy then you have to put proxy entry in the setting.xml file in your .m2 folder just add the following you access internet via proxy server.

                            <settings>

                                 <proxies>

                                    <proxy>

                                      <active>true</active>

                                      <protocol>http</protocol>

                                      <host>your proxy host ip</host>

                                      <port>80</port>

                                      <username>proxyuser if any</username>

                                      <password>somepassword if any</password>

                                     <nonProxyHosts>www.google.com|*.somewhere.com</nonProxyHosts>

                                    </proxy>

                                   </proxies>

                               <profiles>

                            ...

                            ...

                      Shouldn't this be in Developer ? or are these necessary steps for a productive installation?
