You are right, Jive does not have a concept of hierarchical documents. The typical way to relate documents is to @-mention the other docs, or the parent doc. This way, you will see an "incoming links" section on the target document.

Is the @mention for a document a Jive 7 feature only? We're migrating to 7 but currently in 4.6.
Is there an example that would show a parent doc with @mentions?
I think content mentioning was introduced in Jive 5
