Is there a way to receive email alerts for initial post but not the replies?

    Tbolt

A Community Manager pointed out to me that when they post new content and have a lot of simple "congrats" replies, users are being bombarded with emails from the replies and turning them off.

      She notes:

The challenge we are trying to solve in case you have other suggestions is – When [material is] posted, many people reply saying congratulations. Users are getting inundated with the reply alerts and therefore turning off the email alerts. Then, they are missing important site related posts.  Do you have any suggestions to address this challenge?

          The short answer - no.

The longer answer is that this is a hard one. How do you know which posts will get "stupid" or non-valuable replies versus ones where the replies are as good if not better than the original post? As with most things in life, you have to take the bad with the good.

You CAN do this in your Jive Inbox - turning off updates once the first insipid congrats gets posted. And if you were also getting emails from your Inbox, that would then also stop the emails for that specific post. But there is no way to completely control it right from within email.
