    Change default places banner and the presets

    Tbolt

      With Jive 7, the new places header is nice but we are going to change the default image to something more fitting for our organization. As well, we want to change the presets to a handful that we select. How can we do this?

          Any response on this? We are looking to do the same thing.

              We would also love to do the same.  We are in the mist of upgrading our internal instance from Jive 4.5 to Jive 7.  We have many, many groups where I would like to change the default image that would be implemented when we deploy.

              Looping in Christy Schoon our great Jive strategy consultant.  Christy - any thoughts on this or can you point us to someone who might be able to help?

              Thanks - Michelle

                  Hi Michelle, changing the default and the presets is not a configurable option.  To change the banner in all of your places post-upgrade, without customization, you would need to manually change the banner in each place.

                  For customers that are hosted or on-premise, a customization could be done through Jive PS or a partner, to do exactly what you are talking about.

                  This is a really good topic to be aware of when upgrading, because without the customization you should have a plan in place of how, at least at the top level of places, you plan on manually replacing the banners if the default blue is not going to work within your design guidelines.

                If you are interested in this, I'd suggest searching to see if there is already an idea logged that covers this ability (I suspect there is). If there is not one, then create one and enlist folks to vote on it. Discussion posts rarely do anything other than get customers talking. Ideas have been known to drive Jive development.

                  I too would like to know how to change the default banner so all sites created after deployment will have the same banner on top instead of

                      Hi Dennis, are you in Cloud?  If so, this ability to administratively set the default place banner as well as the presets is now covered in the Admin Console.  If you aren't in Cloud, you will get that ability in the v8 release in the first half of 2015.

                        Hey All,

                        For those of us in v7 who can't go to Cloud, can't go to 8, don't want another plugin. Here's a theme solution for changing the default place graphic and banner.

                        (Disclaimer: Custom template/theme changes are not supported outside of Professional Services)

                        Change Default Place Avatar

                        Template:

                        /soy/place/header.soy

                        * In this example I've uploaded a theme called my-theme and included an images folder where my new default avatar graphic resides

                        Change

                        {if $imageURL}
                        <img src="{buildUrl($imageURL)}" alt="" border="0" class="placeImg">
                        {/if}

                        To

                        {if $imageURL}
                        {if ($imageURL) == '/images/default-space-130x130.png'}
                        <img src="/themes/my-theme/images/default_avatar.png" alt="" border="0" class="placeImg">
                        {else}
                        <img src="{buildUrl($imageURL)}" name="{$imageURL}" alt="" border="0" class="placeImg">
                        {/if}
                        {/if}

                        Change Default Place Banner

                        Template:

                        /soy/integration/header.soy

                        * In this example I've uploaded a theme called my-theme and included an images folder where my new default banner graphic resides

                        Change

                        {if $bgType and $bgType != 'custom'}
                        background-image: url("{resourceUrl($bgPresetImageUrl)}");

                        To

                        {if $bgType and $bgType != 'custom'}
                        background-image: url("/themes/my-theme/images/default_banner.png");

                        Also you'll want to remove the @param bgPresetImageUrl from the declared params at the top of the template or else you get a compiler error on save, since you have an unused variable. (See error below)

                        Hope this helps groups like us that are stuck in a version of Jive without an Admin Console option.

                        Sincerely,

                        Aaron J. Perrotte
