Same problem here. Have someone found a fix for that?
I haven't been able to reproduce this issue nor have I seen this before.
Could you tell me both of your guy's setup? Perhaps we can link a commonality.
- App Server
- JVM version
Also if you could list the steps you took in upgrading to 2.0, this could be useful. Thanks
My installation is running on:
CentOS release 5, linux 2.6.18-53.1.14.el5xen
Tomcat 5.5.20 (included with the CS standalone distribution)
Upgrade Steps used for my test installation as best I can recall:
1) Backup mySQL database
2) Unpack standalone tarball
3) Make a copy of production jiveHome (called jiveHome2)
4) Create symlink to jiveHome2 in jive_clearspace_standalone_2_0_1
5) edit jive_startup.xml to point to new database
6) Copy setJavaHome, st*-clearspace.sh, and JDBC driver from 1.10.5 installation to 2.0
7) Start 2.0 application using start-clearspace.sh
8) Access web page, run setup application, works fine.
9) Restart clearspace 2.0
10) Run upgrade admin application, works fine.
11) Restart clearspace 2.0
12) Access main web page, works fine.
13) Login to admin console, text garbage is viewable.
Thanks for your help,
I installed 2.0.1 from scratch. Everyting looked good until I activated "Page Compression" under "Page Compression Settings":
After submitting, my screen immediately looked like ccranford's ;)
It looks like the situation can be reversed by disabling this setting. On the database there is a couple entries that seem related, but I'd like some confirmation before taking risks:
clearspace=# select * from jiveproperty where name like '%compr%';
name | propvalue
jive.compressionFilter.enabled | true
jive.compressionFilter.stats.enabled | true
What do you think?
Yes I can confirm that changing jive.compressionFilter.enabled to false fixed my problem and allowed the admin console to load properly.
update jiveProperty set propValue='false' where name='jive.compressionFilter.enabled';
Thanks very much for the solution Pablo!
Hi, looks like I was typing while you sent your answer! Sorry!
Sorry for the delay.
I've been busy on other stuff.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.1 (Tikanga)
RHEL 5.1 is 64-bit! So is JRE: jre-6u5-linux-x64.bin
I've solved the problem by shutting clearspace down, then updating the database:
update jiveproperty set propvalue = 'false' where name='jive.compressionFilter.enabled';
I've encountered this problem as well -- can anyone confirm whether or not this issue has been resolved so that page compression works correctly? I've tried it on and off, and I definitely see a performance improvement when I have it on, but then I can't access the admin console (which is sort of necessary).
I guess your problem must have been solved long back.
I just wanted to tell you that the Admin Console gets restored on running the update query and then restarting ClearSpace (I am using ClearSpace Community 2.0.4).
