Re: Can !App Add-ons be deployed without a nodejs service?
benjamin.walker Oct 13, 2014 4:11 PM (in response to Scott A Johnson)Hi Scott, I'm 95% sure you have to have the service running in order for this to work but I'm checking internally to confirm.

Re: Can !App Add-ons be deployed without a nodejs service?
Ryan Rutan Oct 15, 2014 4:41 AM (in response to benjamin.walker)1 person found this helpfulScott,
We will be talking more about this at JiveWorld, but the short of it....is that in the next version of cloud, we are adding the ability to host simple Jive Apps from within you add-on. Think of it, as bundling your app static assets into the Add-On itself.
There will be more details and information on this available in the Partner community, and it can currently be played with in the Trunk Sandbox arena. If you'd like to try this out now, please reach out in the Partner community and we'll get you the spec.

Re: Can !App Add-ons be deployed without a nodejs service?
whoiskevin Oct 15, 2014 7:40 AM (in response to Ryan Rutan)Perhaps add into that talk when that will make it to on-premise installs. I know cloud is great, wonderful, exciting and cures cancer but I need to know when things line up to versions I can use so next version of cloud = x version of on premise is always appreciated.

Re: Can !App Add-ons be deployed without a nodejs service?
Ryan Rutan Oct 15, 2014 8:09 AM (in response to whoiskevin)This feature is intended to be included in the next version Jive on-premise (logically, following suit of past version names, this would be Jive 8). Note: This type of messaging will most likely be available when the feature is officially GA, as of right now..it is still not available to the general public. Coming from an IT on-premise background, I understand your feedback completely ... and will try to make sure that other messages from other teams include that level of detail where available. Either way, always feel free to ask me and I'll shoot straight with you =)

Re: Can !App Add-ons be deployed without a nodejs service?
Scott A Johnson Oct 27, 2014 5:08 PM (in response to Scott A Johnson)Just to follow up, I asked the question over in the Partner community... and answered my own question .
How do I take advantage of the upcoming Add-on hosted App functionalities?
For those who who are too lazy to click over:
Can you? Yes, you can
How? command: jive-sdk build add-on --apphosting="jive"
Edit: to clarify, the --apphosting flag is used during the build command, not the create command as I thought before. When you use it during the build command, it copies apps and other static content into the extensions.zip

pawans Oct 27, 2014 9:00 PM (in response to Scott A Johnson)Hi Scott / RyanScott A Johnson / Aron,
Does this solution mentioned by Scott work for all Jive 7 instances or only cloud / specific 7.x hosted version?
