Content editor - highlighting and background color

It would be great to be able to highlight text, such as with yellow or green highlighting. Similarly, in tables it would be very useful to control the background color of cells.

By switching into html mode, it's possible to accomplish this here and there, but that method is impractical for most uses. For example, in a task list, it's common to highlight things in green to mark them as done, and that has to be done on the fly - not through some awkward task of editing html code.

Has anyone discovered a workaround or hidden feature to accomplish this?

Hi David - There is a built in feature that allows you to change the background color of cells in a table in the rich text editor.

For example, if you have a table and you want to make an entire row have a green background color, click in a cell, and then select the cell edit icon that pops up: Screen Shot 2014-11-06 at 10.37.03 AM.png

From here you can select if you want to edit the column, the row, the individual cell, or the entire table:

Next you will see a popup, here you can customize properties of the cell(s).  Here I've set the background color to green for the entire row:

Let me know if this answers your question.
