8c4 drops next week (I believe) and once it is live, we will have more documentation on how to build apps without the node back-end. What I can tell you is that the Jive SDK (Node) currently lets you take a normal Node.JS Jive App and bundle the CSS, HTML, and JS into the Add-On.
When you are in the root directory of your Jive SDK node.js project, you can use the following command:
jive-sdk build --apphosting=jive
At this point, the only thing you need as an 8c4 instance of Jive to deploy to, which wont happen until next week.

Thanks Ryan. I have most of the app working now, but we are holding off on deploying it until 8c4, so we don't have to use Node.js. Reduces the overhead on our end to get approval from the security team and setup hosting.
