I'll give a tip to everyone using Nitrous for development. Watch your disk space/quota closely. I'd installed the nodejs and later installed mongodb with jive-persistence-mongo in order to switch to mongo for persistent storage.
The npm installation process ran out of quota (even though the df command still showed space available). After I increased the space available; the server was really messed up and I have to totally uninstall node.js and all the node-modules then reinstall from scratch to get it fixed.
So my motto now is to make sure I have plenty of space available unless I want to waste a few hours trying to fix it.
