DId you ever carry out this task? We are looking to move content from one community to another and I was wondering if anyone had done this before
I have never tried it. But i had proposed a solution with my move content add-on.
Check the branch "client-server-app-version" on this repo --> shahpawan/move-content-app at client-server-app-version · GitHub
By default my add-on was meant to move content between two groups.
Last year someone had asked the exact thing you need.
I have changed some code in my app to show how this can be achieved. The changed code is in the branch mentioned above.
Hi Pawan, thanks - I am not a developer myself, but might get one of our guys to look at this if that's ok.
Just to confirm a couple of things - does this app move content internally and you are saying you have changed code to allow the movement of content between instances of Jive?
BTW - just for detail we are moving from 6.0.3 to the latest version (whatever it is when we move next year)
We would look to select content and then move it - we may be asking for too much, but obviously our ideal is that it retains categories, security etc.
Check the following two blog posts.
The first one is the move content app we developed last year and the second one is the advanced version we created, called content manager.
I guess this is what you are looking for.
One thing to note here, while moving we are not retaining the categories for now as those categories need to be present in the target group.
This feature can be added in these add-ons if needed.
As you mentioned 6.0.3, that might be a problem as the first add-on requires minimum jive 7.0.1 and second one requires jive 8.0.1 / cloud 8c5.
Also, all this add-ons are meant to move content between two groups with a jive instance.
I had added one branch on the first one just to show how the code can be tweaked to move content between two jive instances.
