I like that you simplified to 3 group types. We're using 4 and I think the "invite only" group is the least used. You are at a financial company, too, right?
Thank you for sharing! Is there some container in the JC where help documents like this one are collected? It seems like we all have very similar needs for these help documents to assist out respective users, and I know we are creating them, so why not collaborate?
Thank you! One of best descriptions I've seen.
When you join an Open or Members Only group, should the Administrator change it to a Private or Secret group, you membership conveys with the change. If you are merely following an Open or Members Only group, you will no longer be able to participate and receive updates in activity stream.
Hi Shirlin - to be honest - terribly confusing for users -
Most people would think that if they 'Join' a group, they will automatically follow, participate, and be shown under the People tab.
Why would I 'Join' something I didn't want to 'Follow'?
In my opinion - this needs to be much more simplified -
I probably wrote this up over a year and half ago...and I think they changed something in Jive 7 because when you Join a Group, you automatically are following it.
Perhaps this was for Jive 5...but feel free to modify it for your own community!
