Hi Justin - I'm facing the same dilemma, and keen to know if you hear of any solutions -
The events module, I agree, is really primative. I would like to see one container for all events, and to have the ability to sort by office / geography / topic / internal vs external etc-

in our company we also find the event module very limited, so one of the possibility that helped us was to "embed" a google calendar into a document,
and you are able to see all the incoming events... it's not the perfect solution but at least it helps more than the one integrated in Jive at the moment.
You need to check in your calendar the code provided to embed it
I'm really expecting a better integration either with Google, or a more advanced event module.
