What items trigger a mobile notification using the jive app?

Trying to figure out how users get mobile notifications (assuming they have notifications enabled on their device).

Is it content in the inbox? Streams? Shared? etc?

          Hi Ana,

You will receive a notification for the content you would see in your Jive Inbox. For example, if you are following a user in your inbox, you will see the push notification when they create a piece of content.

          Hope this helps.

              Hi John,

We are testing this right now, and we are having trouble getting notifications to pop up on mobile devices. We have ensured that the phone and tablet settings allow notifications, and we are testing with items in the inbox, but we are still not seeing the notification.

Is there something in our JIVE system settings that needs to be turned on or changed?

              Thanks for the help!

                  Hi taylor.prewitt@dish.com

I found this information in the documentation:

                  Push Notification Defaults

By default, push notifications are on, and are relayed through the Jive Push Service. If you want to shut them off, click None - disable push notifications.

Push notifications continue to send data through the Jive Push Service securely via HTTPS, but do not require authentication. To ensure Jive can send push notifications, you'll need to enable outbound traffic from your Jive instance to the following IP address on port 443:

                  • 204.93.84.65

Due to iOS and Android security restrictions on which credentials are needed to push to an application, push notifications must go through Jive's push notification gateway to reach the standard Jive Mobile application. If you don't like this behavior, you can disable push notifications, or you can do a custom app distribution and configure custom push directly through Google's and Apple's servers, as described below.

Is your instance enabled to send push notifications?

                  Hope this helps!
