If you're using SSO identity management, then Jive becomes the service provider (SP) and your identity provider (IdP) handles the authentication. This is a typical relationship between SP and IdP. Jive does not handle authentication, except for non-federated local users and external users. Depending on the version of Jive you're using, you'll want to refer the appropriate SSO related documentation here:

Thank you Jeph! We are on a Jive-x cloud version. I will refer to the documentation you referenced. It is my understanding that our current user base that exists in Jive will need to be transferred to this new process.
