Re: CMRs and tracking site visits on your Jive community
Billy Volpone Sep 15, 2015 1:34 PM (in response to maclean_itriage)For reuse purposes for the rest of the community, I thought it might be good to repost my initial reply to you here so we can piggyback on top of that and ideally expand options:
Hi MacLean,
Related to community manager reports, our adoption stats only focus on ratios of total registered users and how many of them are "active" (mostly just logging in and consuming), "participating" (engaging in content to like, share, comment, etc), or "contributing" (creating content, answering questions, etc). This specific data isn't so much concerned with who those users are but just what they are doing. To your point above, if you wanted to get far more into the data and slice up the type of users and when they come in and what they do, etc... that would come from our analytics API. You can tap into this yourself, but to parse through the data and create new reports, you can always leverage our services team.
Here are some of the links I send my other clients when this question arises:
How To: Use the Data Export Service API Explorer

Re: CMRs and tracking site visits on your Jive community
maclean_itriage Sep 15, 2015 1:41 PM (in response to Billy Volpone)But herein lies the problem: We may not be talking about the same thing.
I'm not talking about getting more out of registered user activity; I want
to know the bounce rate of traffic landing on the home page and leaving
immediately, and number of non-members viewing ungated content but never
requesting a login. Does that make sense? I reviewed the docs you sent and
don't see that kind of stuff in there.

Re: CMRs and tracking site visits on your Jive community
Billy Volpone Sep 15, 2015 2:29 PM (in response to maclean_itriage)Someone much smarter than I should be the one to answer that - but those documents I sent are mainly focused on giving you direct access to the API in which data like that could be pulled, if we're tracking it. I might suggest posting to the developer community actually. My colleague Ryan Rutan might also be able to better answer this type of question.

maclean_itriage Sep 15, 2015 2:35 PM (in response to Billy Volpone)Thanks Billy Volpone; I can re-post in that group. Ryan Rutan if you've got thoughts as well that'd be great. Thanks.

Re: CMRs and tracking site visits on your Jive community
Billy Volpone Sep 15, 2015 2:37 PM (in response to maclean_itriage)Feel free to simply 'move' your thread so we can avoid duplication if possible. It's very easy to @ mention this group again if we want to pull the community managers back into the conversation.

Libby Taylor Sep 16, 2015 8:52 AM (in response to maclean_itriage)Hey MacLean, I am not all that savvy about analytics, that award goes to Claire Flanagan but we use Google Analytics to see the numbers for non-registered views.

Re: CMRs and tracking site visits on your Jive community
maclean_itriage Sep 16, 2015 8:54 AM (in response to Libby Taylor)That's great news, Libby Taylor; thanks for this response. I'm meeting today with one of our in-house GA experts who is not involved with our Community, but hopefully I can get her team hooked in and us hooked up on GA.

maclean_itriage Sep 16, 2015 2:04 PM (in response to Libby Taylor)Libby Taylor and Claire Flanagan
Are you using Jive's cloud platform? If you are, would you be open to PM'ing how you integrated your instance into Google Analytics? My analytics expert and I assume it's via the Data Export Service via our client ID and secret, but it's not clear to us yet. Thanks again for chiming in on this.

Re: CMRs and tracking site visits on your Jive community
Billy Volpone Sep 16, 2015 2:24 PM (in response to maclean_itriage)1 person found this helpfulMacLean, you should be able to add GA into the cloud admin via System -> Settings -> Third-Party Analytics. It will then ask for the GA ID and you should be set from there.
