Qumu has an on premise video solution with a plugin that works with Jive ver 7 and ver 8 !! It behaves just like the native Jive video solution
Could you provide your input on these requirements for video in regards to Twistage? If we are having issues with the cloud service do open a ticket up with Jive or Twistage?
Requirements Jive Comments Allow
users to embed videos (via the Jive Video) module within content posts from
either an uploaded video file or link from the web if it uses a supported
container type, video codec and audio codec. Example here:
Support these video container types: AVI, MOV, WMV, MP4,
MPEG, FLV, F4V, 3GP, and 3G2.
Support these video codecs: all of the popular MPEG-4 variants
like DivX, XviD, H264, 3IVX, and MSMPEG4, plus Windows Media 9.
Video size/duration supported is unlimited. Timeouts and other undesirable behaviors
can happen with large video uploads (> 1GB), but those are generally
attributed to internet/network/browser issues.
Support these audio codecs: MP2, MP3, WAV, AAC (typically seen
in QuickTime files), Windows Media audio, and, for mobile devices, AMR in
both narrow-band and wide-band varieties.
Support optimal upload video settings. The best thing to do is
resize the video to the target width of 768. Do not perform any
pre-compression on the video before uploading.
If a user cannot access a site where an externally hosted video
resides, user should be able to view video embedded in a Jive post.
I would recommend opening up a support case with Jive. The support team will reach out to Twistage on your behalf if any help is needed from their side.
Thank you Carlo, for your response. I wasn't aware that Qumu integrates with Jive. This is something fairly new, right?
Qumu launched this at Jive World last year - its pretty cool !
Is your organization currently using it on prem? If so, do you recall the major challenges you experienced during implementation? Is it cloud based?
Thanks for your input!
The solution caters for both the customer hosting the video solution on premise and they have a cloud solution . The added benefit over Twistage is that you have access to the video servers , so you can upload there and to Jive and also integrate the solution with other platforms if you wish to do so .
This is great info, Carlo, thanks! I will share this with my team.
Hi Carlo - I'm curious if you'd be open to sharing your experience with implementing Qumu? I'm researching on-premise video storage solutions.
