    Discussion Settings - E-Mail Alert not working or settings limited?


      Hi all,

      for our community (jive-x 8) we have chosen to use E-Mail Alerts to get notified, when questions do not get an answer.


      Are there any limitations to available settings?


      We set "Open Question Age" to zero hours (intending to get an alert immediately) and do not get any e-mail alert.

      We set "Open Question Age" to 1 hour and get an alert after 4 hours.


      Has anyone heard of limits to the open question age setting or is that a bug?


      In the documentation, limits are not mentioned Configuring Discussions for a Space

      And this seems to be too old to be valid for Jive 8  Discussion Settings - Alert Functionality Bug?

          Hi Jürgen,


          I'm sorry to hear that you're receiving emails every 4 hours instead of the 1 hour you've configured.  This is the expected behavior of the product.  The open question monitor task runs every 4 hours by default; this means that every 4 hours, we check to see if there are any questions which have been open for longer than 24 hours (based on your configuration), and if there is at least one question that has been open that long, we send an email alert.


          We do have an open improvement request to change the default value to 24 hours, since every 4 hours is fairly low for most use cases.  If you'd like to modify this, please submit a support case in your secret Jive Community customer group and a team member will be happy to look into the feasibility of making this change for your environment.  If you're not familiar with the case submission process, please check with your community manager.
